⭐⭐⭐ I'm vegan + Medical Medium + gluten-free and mostly fat-free and corn-free.
My way of eating can be hard to maintain while traveling.
But at the Taquería El Mexicano was very helpful and made a special dish just for me with veggies and potatoes 🥔 🥕🥬
The waitress was very help and made sure she was right about all my special need by asking in the kitchen 👍🏻
🧈🧀 It's important to order “sin manteca [animal fat often used for cooking vegetarian dishes] and sin queso [cheese]”.
🍉For drinks I had a watermelon juice from the menu. Remember to order without sugar [sin azúcar].
The dish was a mix of veggies fried on the pan (zucchini , free beans, carrots, onion and cabbage).
The dish was a little oily but I forgot to ask for it without oil only “sin manteca”
The potatoes turned out to be french fries - but I wasn't specific on that part when ordering, and of course I'll get french fries in a touristic area as Cozumel, since that's what most tourists want 🤷🏻♀️
The dish had no spice added at all, so I added some habanero salsa, and it was fine.
I think I would have had better luck ordering a salad 🥗
The watermelon juice was huge and very delicious 😋
⭐⭐⭐ I would love my vegan gluten free dish 3⭐ and 5⭐ for the watermelon juice.
My family was more satisfied with their meals and especially the huge drinks, so I'll give it 5⭐ for the drinks 4⭐overall.
We paid 850 $MX for 4 main courses and 5 drinks.

Read moreThis place is amazing! We live right around the corner and have seen it grow. It’s small and a bit hot inside but when locals line up outside for a table and Togo orders you know it has to be good eats. Abraham is the owner and the cook. He works alongside his son Abraham Jr. and his wife to produce some authentic street tacos. Sure he has pastor....but also suadero, longaniza, and tripe tacos. What makes the meat great is the vessel in which it is cooked. It has a deep outside ring where the big cuts of meat cooks and renders down in, producing a flavorful moist melt in your mouth tenderness.
You get two corn tortillas stacked on one another that have been dipped in this rendered goodness before they then go onto the flattop to warm up. A generous portion of meat is then added along with onion and cilantro. There is both red and green sauce and they compliment the tacos perfectly.
Here’s the best part....everything is 15 pesos! That’s .80 a taco people....Only open at night. Bottom line is to run, not walk to this taco shop. I think one day it will be as popular and big as Los Serra’s, Otates, and El Pique and this is coming from a taco connoisseur who has lived on the island (me)...
Read moreThis tacos were surprisingly good. The best suadero tacos I’ve had and I am a huge picky eater but especially of suadero. I also tried chorizo and pastor but suadero were the best. The salsas are also pretty good. I always hate when the meat is good and salsas are bland but not here the salsas were decent. The place is small and few seating but people move quickly so that’s always a plus. The staff is also fast and my tacos came out like 3 minutes after I ordered them even though they were packed. I ate there 2 nights out of my 5 nights. Definitely try them if...
