This is my go to place for seafood every time I’m in Cozumel. Seafood is fresh, and prepared well. Portions are huge, each table receives complimentary nachos and salsa.
If you’re not a big eater, plan to share dishes.
The parillada mixto (grilled seafood platter) is extraordinary. Something about the char and marinade gives each bite a smokey umami. It was just right for me and my husb.
I’ve had the ceviche and quite liked it too. The ceviche mixto comes with raw fish, octopus, prawn, and conch - tastes exactly like the Caribbean.
So why 4*? Even though they hand you 2 menus - the Spanish menu is in MXP, and the English menu is in USD - the bill is converted from the MXP total. As we were expecting the USD prices, the bill in USD was higher than we expected.
They also include a mandatory 10% tip in the check. Including the forex differential, the tip worked out to be 20%+. I wish that they’d be upfront about their pricing.
That said, I do love the vibe of this place and will be back with my...
Read moreNice place was within walking distance of where I was staying. Was looking for some seafood and this place popped up on google maps. I went in and was immediately greeted. I was asked for my drink and I ordered a pina colada. Was pretty good and came out in a large glass, schooner. I ordered some guacamole and in Mexico it’s pretty much just mashed up fresh avocados, which I’m ok with that. They brought out some chips with it, they are a bit thick but still ok. They also brought some salsa & pico de gallo which was quite good. I then ordered the fresh fish, red snapper, and they how you want it prepared and I choose grilled. It came out perfect, it is grilled whole and yes you have to deal with tiny bones but it’s manageable. It also came with black beans, rice, fresh avocado, and grilled plantain. It filled the whole plate & was delicious. They asked if I wanted dessert which I declined because at that point I was stuffed. I highly recommend and would...
Read moreThis place is dishonest, racist and on top of it, the food was bland.
I went in and ordered grilled fish. I asked one waiter for habenero and another waiter brought my soy sauce instead (bc I’m Asian??)
Then when I got they bill, they illegally added tip to the bill (this is not allowed in Mexico but unscrupulous restaurants will do it hoping you don’t notice or don’t know it’s illegal)
On top of all this, the fish was NOT good. It was very oily and yet dry. I had to put a ton of pico de gallo, salt and salsa on it. It was also not well priced for the bad food you get.
This place is a touristy place that has no problems being racist, ripping you off and giving you bad food....
