Taquería Molina in Cozumel is an absolute hidden gem for authentic Mexican food. Located away from the bustling tourist areas, it’s worth the extra steps to experience some of the best local flavors on the island.

We tried a variety of dishes, and every bite was packed with bold, traditional flavors. The gorditas were a highlight—thick, corn tortillas stuffed with delicious fillings. Their verde salsa was mild and refreshing, while the rojo salsa delivered a serious punch of heat for spice lovers.

The conchita pibil was outstanding. This slow-cooked pork, marinated and cooked in banana leaves, had a rich, smoky flavor that was perfectly seasoned with achiote and spices. The chicharrón in salsa verde was another favorite, offering a tangy, savory kick with a satisfying crunch.

We also enjoyed the nopales gordita, which featured tart, citrusy cactus paddles for a fresh and unique twist. The alambre de pollo was a hearty mix of grilled chicken and vibrant vegetables, and while the pollo a la Mexicana was good, it didn’t quite stand out like the other dishes.
