We absolutely loved the food here, we ordered the Hurache de birria and the Quesabirrias with 1 Dos Equis and 1 Horcha. As said the food was delicious with very kind service and would have loved to come with family and friends since Cozumel is a usual vacation destination for us.
However a break down of what we ordered: Hurache de birria $120 MX Pesos 1 order of Quesabirria $150 MX Pesos 1 Horcha $35 MX Pesos 1 Dos Equis $40 MX Pesos
Which would have been a total of $345 MX Pesos Which is a total of $16.89 USD.
However when asked if we were paying with Pesos or USD we said USD, when we were given the check we were given a total of $22 USD, In MX Pesos it SHOULD HAVE BEEN $ 345.04, Which was a total of $5.11 of USD OVERCHARGE , for which reason? Not sure.
We were so pleased with the service and food we were going to leave a generous tip as well. Why why this restaurant was comfortable to over charge tourist - maybe it was easy due to us being JUST TOURIST - we don't support dishonest/ scam like behavior.
I do recommend to visit- JUST PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE CHECK AND THE MENU PRICES MATCH what is charged to you at the end of your meal.
No estoy seguro. No apoyamos comportamientos deshonestos o fraudulentos. Recomiendo visitarlo.
Update : 12.1.24 Due to the response of the owner, I would like to be very transparent because we have no gain to lie or make up a story? The response of the owner to my review seems to be confused with another tourist - we were the family of four with two children whom were girls. Even if at the exchange rate of 17 pesos per dollar the total should have been 20 even. The exchange rate in Mexico at the time of our visit ( November 22 2024) was 20.48. Anyways to each their own, since obviously it's a he said she said situation. My concern and only importance is the authenticity and experience of those who seek a place to enjoy food while in Cozumel. Have a Great day all and stay safe...

This birria taco spot is absolutely worth the short walk (about 15 minutes) from the downtown cruise dock. Tucked away from the touristy areas, we found ourselves as the only non-locals in the restaurant—a good sign that we were in the right place.
The food was outstanding. The quesabirria tacos were cheesy, rich, and perfectly crispy on the outside—some of the best we’ve had. The guacamole came out in a huge bowl and was incredibly fresh and flavorful. Don’t skip the sauces: the green is mild and tasty, but the orange one packs a punch if you like a little heat.
The portions were generous—our whole meal was just $31 USD and easily could have fed four people. The owner and waitress were both incredibly welcoming and kind, and while knowing a little Spanish helps, it’s definitely not necessary to enjoy a great meal and friendly service.

Read moreThis is a traditional West Mexico restaurant where one of the main dishes is barbacoa tacos and stew. Barbacoa is a rubbed, pulled beef slowly cooked in a juicy mixture of spices. The stew is possibly the best cure for a hangover. The restaurant is ample and air-conditioned with plenty of space and a pleasant atmosphere. The dishes are delicious and the portions are generous. The owners are behind the counter and kitchen and are always happyy to strike a conversation. 100 recommend this hidden jewel. Older location is on 10th and 3rd, they have recently moved to 20th between Rosado Salas and 3rd, just half a block from the market. Try the tacos de barbaco, definitely worth going back every time. Prices are also...
