I usually leave positive reviews because I truly want to support places and leave a good impression. But today’s visit was honestly quite strange.
Imagine — you’re in Budva, going to different cafés, and you want an iced latte. On the menu it’s written as “cold coffee,” but in most places here, that means it comes with syrup, cream, and whipped cream. I have type 2 diabetes, so sugar is a strict no for me.
I ordered a regular latte with ice on the side — I also prefer real coffee beans, not instant.
At first, the waitress didn’t understand why we needed extra ice and brought just a small amount in a glass. When we politely asked for a bit more, she slammed the glass on the table to show there was already ice 😄 That felt quite strange and disrespectful.
Later, when she brought more ice, we thanked her and paid the bill. But then she noticed I added the ice to my coffee — and started scolding me like a child, saying, “There’s cold coffee on the menu!” and muttering “I don’t understand” with an annoyed tone.
Well, okay — don’t understand, that’s fine. But there’s no reason to show such judgment or attitude. It’s the customer’s choice how to drink their coffee. Why act like we came to her home uninvited and asked for a drink?
It just felt really unpleasant. Anyway, that was my experience — you can judge...
Read moreI recently visited Hemingway restaurant in Budva, Montenegro, and I was thoroughly disappointed. The food was mediocre at best, and the prices were exorbitant. I paid 160€ for a meal that was not worth the cost. The food was average, with no standout dishes that impressed me. The flavors were unremarkable, and the presentation was lackluster. For a restaurant that boasts of its fine dining experience, I expected much more. The service was also a major letdown. The staff was unresponsive, and it took a long time for our orders to arrive. When we finally received our food, it was not hot and had been sitting out for some time. The staff did not seem to care about our experience, and they did not offer any apologies for the long wait times or the lukewarm food. To make matters worse, the restaurant was overpriced. I paid 160€ for a meal that did not meet my expectations. The prices were not justified by the quality of the food or the service. Overall, I would not recommend Hemingway restaurant in Budva, Montenegro. The food was average, the service was poor, and the prices were too high. It is not worth the money, and I would not waste my time or money on this...
Read moreWe were staying at Majestic Hotel, where Hemingway is located. We truly loved everything and I’m very picky when it comes to a dining experience. I’m very confused reading the 1 star comments from people as I truly don’t think they reflect reality. First of all, this place is located in the hotel. Even as guests we had to make a reservation for dinner. Why is this such a controversy for people? The service was amazing, the waiters were amazing and the prices were also alright. Nothing too expensive. There are many people trying to come and take a seat randomly without clarifying anything as the restaurant is in a fantastic spot, of course waiters will need to make sure they do not put the customers that actually took the time to reserve a spot in a difficult position. I’ve tried pasta, the Asian menu, ice latte, cappuccino and cocktails, all were amazing. It will be a better experience compared to every single location in the Old Town. Don’t...
