This place is a trap.
Everything started out well,. The waiter was nice, I asked him what he could recommend, and he suggested the fish. I ordered the fish, and we ate our food to the sound of a trio, playing good (probably local) music.
Everything took a turn for the very worst when we asked for the check. The waiter came back with no receipt, and just told us what the total price was. No receipt. I have never experienced this before, and since the total was twice what we expected, it was clear that the waiter knew that something was off here . We then explicitly asked for an itemized receipt, and when he gave it to us, it was clear that he had not mispronounced the price. We asked him to translate the words as they were written in the local language. We were very surprised to find that:
they charged us extra for the background music they charged us for the bread which they placed on the table without asking if we wanted it one dish was a bit more expensive than what was written in the menu. the price of the fish was multiplied according to its weight.
What followed was very uncomfortable. We were completely surprised about the high price for the fish because several dishes are listed side-by-side with the expected weight of the dish in the menu (e.g. 350g, chicken fillet) , and the prices for these dishes are indeed what the dishes cost. Indeed, the superior informed us that this multiplication was only to be done for the fish (although this was not specified in the menu). He told us this in the most demeaning of ways. This pricing might be somewhat understandable, if not the superior had then proceeded to inform us that the fish we ordered was intended for two people. Well I was left wondering why a waiter would recommend a dish intended for two people to a single person? And why would he not inform about the special price listing for this specific item?
I have had fish several times in Montenegro. Every time has the weight been listed alongside the price, everytime has the weight of the actual fish been larger than what was listed, and never has the price been multiplied according to weight. We have never paid for music, bread or found that dishes were charged to other prices than the listed.
So what was different about this place? Well I think I now know the answer: the place is a trap.
(The superior gave us a very, very small reduction in price, then walked away angrily, making it impossible to negotiate further. My most sincere recommendation is to stay away from this place, which (in my opinion) is the very worst example of what a restaurant can be in areas with...
Read moreA disappointing experience and meal. We were recommended to Konoba Akustik by our tour guide with the offer of a free alcoholic drink and dessert (we didn't bother staying for the dessert).
Firstly it took atleast 40 mins for our ordered drinks to be bought out (2 x Coca-Cola) and even longer for some of the most disappointing food I'd ever eaten.
They had one waiter working the entirety of the terrace himself with taking orders, serving orders, and serving drinks. The poor guy was trying his absolute best but was left to fail by the business. Other staff members would bring the prepared food up and sit it on the bar for the waiter, to then take to tables. I watched multiple plates sit there for several minutes as flies landed all over the food.
To start we had ordered the traditional prosciutto which was a generous portion and was really nice.
I ordered chicken with mushroom sauce. The meal had no accompanying sides besides 1/2 a tomato (the pictured olives were from the prosciutto plate) The chicken was so dry even the sauce didn't save it.
My partner ordered the pictured veal... as you can tell what he received looks nothing like what was advertised. The meat was dry and cold in the middle served with tasteless boiled potatoes.
I'd not recommend this restaurant to anyone and would suggest spending your...

We had a lunch time speed boat tour that returned at 3.00 pm. Konoba Akustik was just starting to get a little busy. So we took the chance and got a table.
We asked for recommendations from the waiter and of course added the typical staples of tomato, shopsca and French fries.
Starting off with the local beer Niksicko which had a tangy lemon finish and satisfyingly refreshing.
Getting that protein fix after a long boat ride, we decided to have chicken. One covered in mushroom sauce and the other 4 cheese. The octopus in the salad was so tender and soft, with a beautiful herb sprinkle.
The basic sides of salad, cucumber and cheese were so fresh but just needed a pinch of salt.
In typical fashion we've noticed around eastern Europe, French fries are always served warm-cold but nonetheless tasted alright.
If you're planning on having a meal here, plan your journey well in advance. It just started to get very busy as we were leaving and could see the waiter rushing back and forth.
Service was undoubtedly perfect with the waiter recommending some hot spots around Kotor and Budva.
Overall it was a perfect day with a perfect...
