Comedia Coffee & Restaurant is on the terrace of Tanger Boulevard shopping mall on Avenue Mohammed V in Tangier, Morocco.
The original Comedia café-restaurant is still open and is located directly on Avenue Mohammed V.
Comedia Coffee & Restaurant is a pleasant restaurant with outside tables and floor to ceiling glass walls, allowing views of the Strait of Gibraltar, Tanja Marina Bay, cruise ships and ferry boats.
Comedia is reasonable and affordable, whether you eat a delicious couscous, tajine, harira, fried chicken, panini, soup, fish, hamburger with crispy French fries, fresh salads, ice cream, breakfast, lunch or dinner.
If you do not want to eat a full meal, you may enjoy a coffee, tea, or a water, soda or fruit juice, ice cream, cake, or pastry.
Comedia, located on the large terrace at Tanger Boulevard in downtown Tangier, is within easy walking distance of hotels, shops, cafés and the Place de France.
There are a number of outdoor tables so you may also sit in the sunshine or under an umbrella.
Just outside Comedia Coffee & Restaurant is a wonderful lookout area, where on a clear day you can watch the ferry boats and cruise ships and see Tarifa, Spain, about 15 miles in the distance across the Strait of Gibraltar. From this lookout spot, the beach, Tanja Marina Bay, Port de Tanger Ville and the Kasbah can also be viewed.
My only complaint is that my Caesar Salad was not an authentic Caesar Salad. The lettuce was finely chopped, rather than large leafs, and the lettuce was not Romaine. After the first bite, I realized the salad needed anchovies, as stated on the menu itself, and the dressing was not authentic either. The dressing definitely needed freshly chopped garlic, and there did not seem to be any Parmesan or Parmigiano Reggiano cheese or any olive oil in the salad dressing, which is necessary. I vowed never to order this again and will tell the owner if I see him. No fish soup was available that day, so I ordered the salad.
The waiters are all efficient, polite and friendly. The chef and kitchen staff are well-trained and produce delicious and attractive dishes.
There is strong Wi-Fi and two modern toilets. The entire restaurant underwent a complete renovation during Ramadan 2025 and reopened in April. Comedia Coffee & Restaurant is now totally different inside, with numerous ceiling light fixtures and hanging artificial plants, as if dining in a garden. One area of the outside dining area is surrounded by lots of greenery and is particularly attractive and private.
Prices were increased again after the renovations in 2025, as they did after the Covid pandemic. But inflation has caused food prices to go up, even in Morocco, and major renovation expenses must be paid off.
There are delicious couscous and tajines on Fridays, chicken, beef, lamb and vegetarian.

Read moreWe dined at Comedis a few times mostly to enjoy the terrace. The food was unimaginitive with exactly the same offerings as almost all other newish Moroccan restaurants in the city. However, our last experience was extraordinarily disappointing and we have decided to not dine there ever again and to warn others. On one particular evening we ordered some simple pasta dishes. I chose a pasta a la carbonare, which everyone knows is made with a white sauce. My friend chose a tomato sauce. When the waiter brought our food to the table I immediately noticed that mine was covered in tomato sauce. I told the waiter that I had ordered the white sauce but he said that because my friend, who is a man, ordered a tomato sauce, that I would have that too. I nsisted he change my order but he just laughed at me and walked away. We complained to the owner who stated that it was impossible to get professional waiters and invited us to dine on the house the following night. When we showed up the following night to enjoy his hospitality, he was nowhere to be found, nor did he authorize the wait staff to serve us. We waited an hour, the waiter assuring us that he would be there momentarily and hat he just went to pray. We left. Later when we walked by at a little past 10 pm he still wasn't there we noticed an was probably sitting somewhere laughing. The food in this establishment is simply boil in bag or microwave and the service is abysmal. Even with a pleasant terrace I cannot recommend it especially for...
Read moreThis is a place with glass walls, letting in lots of natural light, and with decent views onto the bay of Tangier, but only from one corner of the restaurant.
The waiters were all incredibly friendly, and the service was very quick with the waiters constantly making eye contact when you glanced in their direction.
I ordered the fish soup, which arrived within 5 minutes, and then the Kefta tajine which arrived within 5 mins of me finishing the soup.
I am taking away a point because I thought the tajine wasn't the best I have ever had, with the meat tasting a little dry and there being maybe a little too much tomato puree in it.
Nevertheless, I do recommend this place and their rating of ~4.8 after many many reviews is fully justified.
