Avoid at All Costs – Overpriced and Tasteless

I had one of the worst dining experiences in Marrakech at this restaurant. The food was shockingly bad – and I don’t say that lightly. The burger came with a frozen-tasting patty that had zero flavour or quality. The chips were equally disappointing: bland, soggy, and clearly not freshly made.

As for the shawarma? Completely flavourless. No seasoning, no texture, nothing remotely enjoyable about it. I've had better street food for a fraction of the price.

And the worst part? The bill came to a ridiculous 490 MAD (around £40). For that quality, it's not just disappointing – it's insulting.

You're paying premium prices for food that wouldn't even pass in a fast food joint. Absolutely not worth your time or money. Consider this your warning – there are far better places in Marrakech where your money will actually buy you flavour...

I ordered lamb tagine with prunes and it cost me 80 dirhams (8$). The dish doesn't deserve even half of the price. I'm Moroccan and I know the right taste of lamb tajine with prunes, and that one has so poor taste and quite bland with a very thin and abundant gravy, while it has to be thick and sweet a little bit. The onions slices are hard and dry, which prove that they're not fresh and they were cooked long time ago. Half of the meat portion was just fat and bones. The prunes are so small and not delicious at all. The dish is not well spiced also. In brief, I don't recommend it, because it gives a bad image on Moroccan gastronomy. Generally the food in Jamaa L'Fna square is expensive and poor in quality, I prefer the restaurants in Gueliz and some few rooftops in the inside of the old medina. Jamaa L'Fna is just for shows and juices, and if you want to try...

We had a lovely meal at Chez Chegrouni during our visit to Marrakech. The location is unbeatable, right on the edge of Jema El Fna with a terrace offering stunning views of the bustling square below. It’s a perfect spot to soak in the atmosphere while enjoying a meal.

The menu is simple and traditional, with classic Moroccan dishes like tagines and couscous. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared. The service was friendly and efficient, even though the restaurant was quite busy.

Chez Chegrouni is great for a casual, authentic dining experience in the heart of Marrakech. While it may not be the fanciest spot, the charm, location, and solid food make it well worth a visit. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a traditional meal...

This restaurant is easy to find in jmaa el-fnaa and has options to eat on the terrace on two levels to see the views of the square. We were very disappointed with the food. We've eaten Morrocan dishes in other places were its been spectacular. We ordered nicoise salad, chicken and lemon tagine, lamb and veg tagine, kofta and egg tagine, harira and chicken pastille. All the food dishes we had were poor in taste and not fresh at all. The kids ended up with diaarrhoea and vomiting. Portions were quite small. The only thing that was tasty was the chicken pastille. It was flaky, freshly baked and flavoursome. If you've eaten tagine before, you'll see the difference.
