Oasis in Swakopmund: A Heartfelt Thank You to Kücki's Pub
I arrived at Kücki's Pub at 7 PM, after a solo journey on my motorbike across Namibia through the Skeleton Coast. Starting at 5 AM from Ruacana, I had been riding for over 13 hours. Exhaustion had set in, and I was in survival mode. Upon my arrival, I was warmly welcomed by Leoni, the bartender. She had an instinctive understanding of what I needed, providing me with a delicious meal and arranging a place for me to stay. Her extraordinary efforts were deeply appreciated in a moment of great need.
My first visit to Kücki's Pub was in 2009, after finishing the Desert Dash with my friend Henning Blaauw, where we secured 6th place overall. Returning last night, my instinct led me back to this incredible "watering hole." Once again, I was impressed by the exceptional service and am profoundly thankful for establishments like this.

It came with a super oily piece of bread. One main, the cordon blue, was partially uncooked. Parts of the pork meat were completely raw. We did not eat it obviously and just sent it back. The waiter and manager were extremely sorry and we didn't have to pay for it and were even offered free dessert. We really appreciate the way they handled it. It's still a huge no-go and quite gross so serve uncooked meat. The second main, schnitzel and spätzle and mushroom sauce, was also disappointing. The schnitzel was okay, but the spätzle were quite dry and we didn't like the sauce at all.
We left super disappointed and the dishes that we had are far beyond average if compared to...
Read moreRESERVE AHEAD. Came here yesterday and were told they were always all booked up. But the bar is open so we stayed and had a beer. Today we called at exactly 5pm (they are open 5-10pm) and got a reservation for 6. Server was very polite but we noticed she was serving and bussing all 10 tables in the front room and was not very attentive to each individual table. Wasn't a problem though. The food was pretty good. The hake was really flakey👍 and tasty. Calimari was bready but great. overall a good restaurant. But we watched at least 15-20 groups being turned away and told they were fully booked. So BOOK AHEAD!! They appear to be fully booked every night but you could probably get a spot if you call around 5...
