Loulan Chinese Korean Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

I've admired Chinese food, be it in Nepal itself or while visiting China. When Loulan opened up in the central real state, the gateway to Thamel, I held my hopes high. Walked in to find the restaurant resembling a hotel lobby/ restaurant rather than a Chinese eatery. The shiny tiles and polished tables seemed to be out of place, just as much as the staff that were dressed in suits they did not look comfortable in. Well, back to food, went ahead and ordered a hefty number of dishes I was very familiar with. The food came in quick, starting with the cold buff, which was way out of what it was meant to be. Worse, I checked with the waiter if I was served the right dish, and the waiter had no clue, and did not know the name of the dish. All dishes turned out to be bland, opposite to what you would expect out of Chinese. That explained why almost all tables were empty, having more waiters than customers did not help. They certainly are only inviting the ones who see then place and will walk in, only to never go back. On the brighter side, we got a complimentary fruit boat-- sadly-- it did not...

The Double Cooked Pork at Loulan was a flavor explosion! . Every bite melted in my mouth, leaving a lingering umami taste that made me crave more. Paired with the right sides, it was a complete masterpiece! If you love bold, well-balanced flavors, this dish is a must-try. I was looking for a place not at street level and stopped by, and really enjoyed my meal. There are a significant number of options, and a large kitchen. I be ordered a bit too much food, but appreciated all the flavours!
