We had the pleasure of dining at Western Tandoori & Naan House twice during our visit to Kathmandu, and it quickly became one of our favorite spots for a tasty, budget-friendly meal. This humble restaurant specializes in both Indian and Nepali cuisine, offering a wide variety of dishes for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. It’s the perfect choice for anyone looking for good quality food at affordable prices.
The food was absolutely fantastic. We tried the Paneer Masala, Garlic Naan, Onion Paratha, and Veg Momos, and we loved every single dish. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the portions were generous. Our kid was especially thrilled with their scrumptious hot chocolate, which he couldn’t get enough of!
Another pleasant surprise was the masala chai—I saw a few locals enjoying it after their meal, and curious, I decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did! It was perfectly brewed and incredibly comforting, a definite must-try for anyone visiting the restaurant.
The staff at Western Tandoori & Naan House were courteous, friendly, and attentive. The service was fast and efficient, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable.
While the restaurant doesn’t have an extravagant ambiance—it's a very simple and basic setting—the food and service more than make up for it. I noticed a few guests outside, unsure whether to dine in. Like us, they were drawn in by the positive reviews, and after giving it a try, I could see they too were happy with their meal.
Overall, I highly recommend Western Tandoori & Naan House for anyone looking for delicious, budget-friendly food. Whether you're in the mood for Indian or Nepali cuisine, this place is sure to satisfy. Definitely...

Read moreThis place is one of, if not the best food in Thamel by far.... I have lived in Nepal for 10 years now and have eaten here on and off over those years and I can say without hesitation that I doubt you will find better food or value in Thamel or Kathmandu. The place is run by an extremely humble and hard working Dad, Mum and sons who prep and service tasty Veg or Meat Indian style food daily. I could write a couple of pages on what I think you should try but for veggies I think the Dal makhani with garlic or plain nan bread and for the carnivores out there the mutton masala again with nan or chapati are both really good. The location is just down from the Chhaya Center and for those who use to visit the old location its on the same road just little further down as you walk towards Thamel. As for the reviews I see here that are 1 star I think they must have been looking for free food or something and used the review to get at the owners as I lived in India for 9 months and traveled all over from Kerala to Leh and I didn't find the food an better than at Western Tandoori. I am sure India does have better food as they have 1.3 billion people and far far larger economy but Nepal is NOT India and comparing the two is unfair.
Great value, Great taste, Great family owned business and great location for trekkers etc as they...
