Really I would rate this hotel 4.5 stars... ||||This is a nice and economical spot in the heart of Thamel. The rooms are clean and have many of the modern touches one might expect...||||Hot showers, wi-fi in most rooms, comfortable beds, clean rooms, pleasant staff, wonderful and filling included breakfast and a great manager (I believe also owner) who understands what his guests expect and strives to ensure each guest is happy with their stay.||||Specifically for me, I arrived in Kathmandu without much of a plan other than knowing I wanted to do a ten day trek somewhere. Upon arrival I spoke with Mukti the manager who talked me through some options of things I could do during my stay. He set up the entire 16 days for me including a flight around Everest, parasailing, flights to/from Pokhara and a 10 day trek to Annapurna basecamp including guide and porter. ||||I had more money than time, so for me personally, I appreciated someone taking care of all of the details. WIth that said, I found the rates for everything to be very reasonable. I even had end my 10 day trek in 8 days due to illness and I returned to Kathmandu early and he provided me with accommodation at his nice hotel in exchange for the days I could not trek.||||Overall, very good experience. One note, there is a lot of noise in Thamel, not just near this property, but through the district. My guess is that this is an issue anywhere you might stay in this area due to dance clubs, honking, dogs barking... the list goes on. This is Thamel and its the tradeoff to stay in the heart of a fun and vibrant district. I rate at 4.5 stars only because the state of the windows could actually have been constructed better to prevent some of the noise, but... it's Kathmandu it comes with the territory.||||Overall, if you're up for Thamel and you probably should be, this is a great...
Read moreTook us ages to find this place as it was hidden in between many buildings in the center of the Jyatha area in Thamel. It's only accessible via small lanes that meander into a complex, of which the hotel occupies the top floors. Unfortunately, it's not so safe for single female travelers as the lane becomes a hang out of youths at night who frequent the dodgy dance clubs next door. Service was not so attentive the first day I was there and the receptionist was cold and rude! Guess she must have been in a bad mood as she seemed more cheery the next couple of days! Great clean, large room - very new furniture and fixtures so that's a huge plus. Don't take the rooms next to the dance clubs otherwise you're in for a very rude shock! It gets extremely noisy at night, all that pelting dance music can drive anyone up the wall - just when you think it isn't noisy enough, the people in the club raise the volume so loud it's impossible to hear yourself think! Mind you, I was staying on the 8th floor and it was so loud the windows were vibrating!||||Other than that, I had a pretty good stay here - breakfast was amazing and you can order as much as you want. While you're at it, do try the Poori with potatoes - simply yummy! Service was somewhat alright (other than the incident mentioned above). Location wise - quite central, everything's a short walk away. Ohhh do give the Green Tara Spa a try (lobby level) - it's run by a sweet Russian lady and they've got amazing massages! Hungry at nite? pop over to Izakaya Japanese cafe downstairs - the food is YUMMMMY and...
Read morePROS:||The location was very good - close to shops, restaurants in Thamel, 10-15 mins walking to the Durbar Square. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, they booked Everest flight for us (it was late in the evening) and ordered taxi to the airport (500 npr). They also changed our room for a more quiet one. Good sleep quality in rooms facing the street/stupa. Very good breakfast - you can order standard eggs with toasts, jam and butter or something more traditional. Breakfast is served on the roof top. They have their own power generator so you can use warm shower almost 24/7 and there is a weak light also 24/7. ||||CONS:||It was extremely cold inside the hotel and also our rooms were very cold. You could warm it a bit when the electricity was on using the A/C warming mode. I think they should provide some gas heaters in winter that could work even during power cuts! There was absolutely no room service (we stayed 4 nights and they even didn't empty our trash bin), when we asked for fresh towels (it was too cold for them to dry!) they gave us towels from some empty room... It was very cold in the morning on the roof top so eating breakfast was almost like a kriotherapy ;) Rooms facing the backyard are very loud at night because of some night club! ||||All in all, I would recommend this hotel to all budget travelers. Value for money factor was unbeatable and warm shower (not 'hot' though) even during power cuts was...
