Cafe Krull — Restaurant in Amsterdam

The location is great, super nice area, but the biggest issue was the terribly rude waitress. One Guinness and a bottle of water was ordered. The price of the pint was insanely high at ‘€8.40’ (drink menu had no price) and it was poorly poured and was not good quality. After ordering and pouring the bottle of water into the glass given, it was noticed the glass was quite dirty. I asked to take the bottle of water off the bill as it was not drinkable due to a dirty glass when I was leaving. This was met with disbelief and rudeness as to why I didn’t ask for another one before that point. I was told it was taken off the bill, but the prices on the older menus are cheaper around €4.50 for pint of Guinness about 2 years ago. But as mentioned, the current menus at the bar have no prices on them. Very dismissive waitress overall, she did not want to entertain the conversation. Wait times were long as it was only one waitress for about 20 full tables. An elderly gentleman also waited for so long another client offered to go into the bar to get him his drink.

It is not about the €3/4 for the water, it’s about the principle of how customers are treated here. Will not...

Very rude lady working there. The door was open and no closed sign. I went inside but nobody was there. I came here last week at the similar time and knew that they should be open on Sunday. I called hello several times but nobody answered. Then suddenly the lady came out from underground and started to scold me:” you should not come in when the door was closed!” I was scared by her sudden showing up from the underground and told her that the door was open and there was no sign saying that it was closed. She then said you should not come in when the lights were out. I pointed to all the lights between us, all lights were on! She didn’t lock the door nor put a closed sign but blamed the guest who visited. And she lied in front of the lights to say they were out. What a shame! They have good spot with sunshine and croissant. But I would never come back again with the rude and unreasonable attitude...

Unfortunately me and my boyfriend did not have the best Time. The people working there were quite rude to us. I understand that we might have upset them (by drinking from our water bottle etc), but this could have been expressed to us with a normal tone rather than passive aggressiveness and weird arm movements putting us and the people around us in a very uncomfortable position… (like why did you feel the need to behave like that towards us? We were paying customers and every cafe has different rules, so I don’t understand the initial reaction). we immediately put our bottles away and ordered a drink instead trying to ease the situation. mind you there were other people doing similar things as well but for some reason we were the only ones carefully watched…. I can only guess...
