I had this on my list of places to try for awhile, so when a friend suggested we meet in de pijp for dinner, it seemed like an obvious choice. However, after sharing 4 plates with a friend, I can confidently say I’ll never be back. It’s very rare for me to leave bad reviews, especially for places with unique concepts. However this place is not worth the hype by any means.
The service was horrendous. It took 40 minutes to get our first plate (focaccia bread with pickled vegetables) it then took another hour for the remaining dishes to come. The pork belly was incredibly dry, and the leek/pistachio dish was ice cold. The potatoes were good, but it’s potatoes and hard to mess up.
The temperature of the restaurant was quite chilly, with every patron wearing their jacket indoors. This was easily remedied when the door was closed (by a patron). The inattentiveness of the staff is incredible.

The owner warmly greeted us herself when we walked in. Super cozy interior. It was only 11:30 and already almost full so it’s probably smart to make resos ahead of time for brunch on Sat/Sun.
My hubby and I got the Swedish meatballs and Kaya toast. The meatballs were cooked perfectly…moist and falling apart. Amazing comfort food for a rainy day.
The kaya toast was so delicious and unique. It’s a traditional Indonesian dish served for breakfast. It’s served with a side of runny eggs that you can dip the brioche into. Highly recommend!
