I recently had the pleasure of visiting Kafenion Amsterdam, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was warmly greeted and treated with genuine Greek hospitality that made me feel right at home.

The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the incredible service provided by the staff at Kafenion. They were not only attentive and professional but went above and beyond to ensure that every customer felt welcomed and taken care of. The moment I placed my order for a freddo espresso, I was pleasantly surprised when they graciously treated me to a delicious spanakotiropita, a traditional Greek spinach and cheese pastry. It was an unexpected gesture that immediately won me over.

Throughout my time at Kafenion, the staff continued to impress me with their knowledge and passion for Greek cuisine and culture. They were more than happy to answer all of my questions and offer recommendations, making sure I had the best possible dining experience. We recently visited Kafenion in Amsterdam based on a recommendation from a friend who visited the area last year. Our friend said she had the most amazing cup of coffee and wanted to know how it was made. So we set out to find the answer.

We walked up to the counter and I started to explain the situation regarding a magical cup of coffee to the man behind the counter and a barista named “Kostas” that made it for her. The man then said, “I am Kostas”. He then said, “I’m not very good at remembering names, but I do remember faces and the coffee people drink”. He knew exactly what he made for her!

Kostas was super nice to us. So much so that we made the 30 minute walk back the next day for more!

We visited a few dozen cafes during our month-long trip to Europe. Most, not all, don’t take the time to really talk to the customer. They simply make the sale and move on. Some people may be okay with that? I personally appreciate people that go the extra mile for others and take pride in what they do.

Kafenion was busy as it had been the day before, but Kostas recognized us and took the time to greet/treat us like we were old friends. He truly went above and beyond our expectations. And, our cappuccino’s were exceptional (as was the local vibe of the cafe)!
