Me and my friend were at Teds yesterday for brunch. When we came in we were greeted by a very unpleasant girl (short, dark blonde hair and she seemed to be speaking Italian or Spanish) who seemed to be the hostess as all she was doing was walk around with a laptop and doing nothing other than that… she seated us after around 10 minutes of just standing in the queue and waiting for her to figure something out on the laptop. Other people who were in the queue with us were also a bit confused as to whether we should just seat ourselves or wait until she’s done clicking on the laptop. After around 20-30 min someone finally took our order. And then we proceeded to wait for more than 1 hour for the order to arrive. People who came after us were getting their orders, eating them and leaving so eventually we asked what’s going on. So the before mentioned now frustrated, annoyed and therefore rude hostess said that one of the kitchen staff left so there’s one person making the orders and it’s not her fault and there’s 20 orders the person has to deal with etc etc. We asked why is it then that people who arrived 45 minutes after us got their order already a while ago and she couldn’t explain but snapped at us and said it’s coming and to be patient. Throughout this whole time every time someone came in without a reservation she would say “ we’re fully booked, bye!” And turn around and walk away without even letting the people process what was said. Our order arrived after 1.5 hours.
In between all of this another very lovely and sweet waitress came and apologised for the hostess. That was very nice from her side, otherwise we were sort of thinking of leaving… But either way this was not a normal way to deal with the situation and it’s not the clients fault someone from the kitchen left. I understand it’s tough to now take care of all the orders but the hostess dealt terribly with this situation, especially since we saw tables around us getting their food even though they arrived much much later than us. Not okay. Definitely after this experience I’ll think twice before going to Teds and my suggestion would be to give your staff some training as to how to deal with clients, especially for those who are client facing being the face of...

Service: The service was horrible - it took them 15 mins just to seat us at the table despite us having a reservation and being on time and there being NO line at the entrance and plenty of empty tables right in front of us. Then we ordered our dishes and after 20 whole minutes of NO food - they came and told us that 1 of the dishes isn’t available; when asked about other vegan options, the waiter just smiled stupidly and kept looking through the menu while saying “I’m not sure I don’t know” - such is extremely stupid given it’s your job??? After that it took the servers another 15 minutes to bring them the food. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience especially because we had tickets booked for a museum and we had reserved a good 2 hours for brunch at this place to fully enjoy the food.
Food: French toast - the most dry, stiff, horrible thing I’ve ever tasted. They put bad maple syrup on top of 2 stiff toasts with a sliced banana on top. Ugly looking and horrible tasting. Despite advertising as a place with “plenty of vegan options”, the only thing they really had was the gyozas and cauliflower fritters - which does nothing for the appetite especially when you’ve been waiting for food for an hour. The only good (really good) thing was the iced latte but again, definitely not worth the hassle. Fresh Orange juice was not bad either, although far from “really good” ones you get quite in a lot of places commonly.
Ambience: again hugely disappointed. Their website promised a really good vibe, but it was suffocating and small and just not worth the entire fricking process - making reservations the day before, going through this much hassle just to get horrible far below average food. It’s fine if you have a whole day of nothing to do and sit in a cramped space with a wall of Van Gogh flowers.
Without even asking, they did not charge us for the meal, which was nice on their part because I would’ve absolutely hated paying...
Read moreWe pre-booked Teds as recommended due to how busy it was. We seen many people turned away due to having no tables so I recommend booking in advance. Sadly when we arrived we were accidentally ignored which I believe may be due to how busy it was, however we did not get asked for drinks orders at all so sat with nothing at our table for over 50 minutes. We flagged someone over who took our order then after having waited 50 minutes without a single drink or any food we decided to ask the kind man at the bar. The girl who had took our order had clearly not put it into the system and therefore we had been sitting with nothing for a long time which was really disappointing, with the chefs and bartenders having no idea about our order. The man who we told was extremely annoyed about this however and very apologetic which I can completely understand as it was not his fault nor his job to serve us! To apologise for this inconvenience we were given 2 free drinks which I really appreciated. The food came out not long after and it made up for the long wait! It was absolutely delicious just as we had expected and therefore overall this was still a good experience and I believe we just got unlucky with having no assigned server for our table and therefore we were forgotten about but these things happen and if your in Amsterdam I recommend booking as the food and drinks were 10/10, as was the lovely gentleman who helped us with our issue! He truly made the experience better otherwise I wouldn’t...
