The food was absolutely delicious and definitely worth it! I especially loved the pierogi and the “Meat Lovers” zapiekanka. We’ll probably come back soon.
The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the orange cheesecake. While the base of the cheesecake was really good, the orange topping was overwhelmingly bitter. Next time, I’ll try a different flavor.
Suggestions for Improvement: Waiting List and Time Limit: The place is small and has limited seating. It was chaotic trying to find a spot to sit and eat, especially with some people staying at tables without ordering. A waiting list system and a time limit for tables could help manage this better. Add a Cooker Hood: The smell from the cooking was noticeable throughout the space. Installing a range hood would help with ventilation and improve the dining experience. Staff Training and Process Optimization: The staff could use better training, and the service processes could be more organized to improve efficiency and customer experience. Install a Door Closer: The door was often left open, and with freezing temperatures outside, this made things uncomfortable. A door closer would solve...
Read moreIt truly is a Polish living room in the center of Amsterdam! If you don’t believe me, go and check out the pieróg (dumpling) shaped throw pillow or the post-socialist cabinet where they keep cups and glasses.
I usually go on the weekend and it’s packed every time. So impressed with the team working there for holding down the fort, can’t be easy!
I’ve tried zapiekanki (the oven-baked sandwiches) but pierogi (Polish dumplings) served on the weekend stole my heart. Not only are they my favorite kind, they are made to perfection. Texture, temperature, flavor, presentation - 10/10, no notes. Different people might have different preferences but to me they’re perfect.
I also managed to get my hands on a freshly made jagodzianka (wild blueberry bun) that’s only available around July, when these blueberries are in season. I’ve had many in the past but this one was incredible, the amount of blueberries inside and the fruit to dough ratio is great. You can check for availability on their instagram stories, there might be a couple more days left to try them if you’re in Amsterdam.
Overall in love with the food, service and atmosphere. Will...
Read moreThis is a unique place. You might wait over 60 minutes just for a simple sandwich. Yes, the food here is tasty, but the space is very cramped and the wait is extremely long. Right before us, the owner arrived with a group of friends or family — I’m not sure which. She went behind the counter and processed their order herself. Their order was quite large, including several takeaway items, and it seemed like no other orders could be prepared at the same time. About 15 minutes after placing their order, they started receiving their food - dish after dish - while the rest of us, regular customers, kept waiting for over an hour, even though we had arrived earlier too. It’s a very strange concept: the owner walks into her own restaurant, sees that it’s packed with customers, and still decides to prioritize feeding her close ones. It felt more like someone cooking in their personal kitchen than running a public place where people come to eat. So, if you have plenty of time and you’re not too hungry, I definitely...
