Nice ambiance with average food. The natural light really works well in this cafe and it's nice to sit outside or on the covered patio and watch folks ride by on the busy street. In fact it was the location and ambiance that made the lunch. Otherwise the so-so food would have soured the experience. It may have been an off day in the kitchen but I found the food to look much better than it actually was. I had the burger and my wife the pizza. Despite being asked "Is medium okay?" for the burger it came out very well done. Pizza hit the spot though slightly bland on the flavor of the sauce. Certainly not food I would send back, but also not something for which I would ever tell a friend "You gotta try this burger!".

Really frustrating experience with the waiters taking 20+ minutes per each interaction with a customer: 1) coming up to a table/giving a menu - failed to accomplish at all. I had to come up and ask myself 2) The order of latte and apple pie was failed too. As she brought a cold latte 3) Apple pie didn’t arrive after 25 minutes of waiting so I had to cancel it and ask for a bill 4) The waiter didn’t even bring the POS machine so I had to ask her again and it took another 2 minutes Definitely one of the worst coffee+dessert experience in Amsterdam. If you value your time and good mood - I wouldn’t recommend to visit this place!

We ate breaksfast here. The coffee was really good, and it costs around 3 euros. My girlfriend ate a Dutch breakfast, which she said was plenty. It costs 9.5 euros. I ate a sandwich, which came with fries. It was a lot, and delicous, costs 7.5 euro. This was the cheapest we ate in Amsterdam, but it was really good. You get free mayo and ketchup, it is on the table, you can just eat it. The waitress was really kind, spoke really good English and was helpful. The place has a good atmosphere, it was good sitting out and seeing the amazing architecture around us.

We were staying in the Renaissance Hotel after our river cruise and wanted a quick lunch so we thought this would be a good choice. Wrong! I should have known when it took so long just to take our order. The couple next to us actually got up and left. I should have followed. The food was good, but it took 55 minutes to get it. Mom was actually checking her watch. Meanwhile, I was nodding off. Traveling is tough and I just wanted to eat so I could go up to the room and take a nap. We both ordered the Philly Cheesteak. I ordered a Pepsi, and was given a Pepsi Max. I took a sip before I realized and had to point it out to the waitress so she could bring me a regular Pepsi. I don't know how the kitchen works because people who were seated after us got their food before we did, although it still took a long time. There seemed to be enough employees in the cafe so maybe it's a "back of house" issue? There are tons of places to eat in the area and I would suggest you try any one them before you go here. Unless you're trying to kill time for some reason. Then, by all means, pull up a chair and get...

I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel and visited the Koepelcafé three times during my stay. The service from Engelo, Gus, Damitris, and especially Lars was absolutely fantastic. Lars and Gus really took their time with us, gave us personal attention, and even shared great tips for the city. They made us feel welcome every single time.

Unfortunately, everything changed because of Boris. I have honestly never been treated so disrespectfully in a hospitality setting. He was snappy, rushed, and made strange remarks that completely ruined the atmosphere. On our very last night we even left earlier than planned because of him that’s how uncomfortable he made us feel.

It’s such a shame, because people like Lars and Gus are the reason you’d want to come back. But because of Boris, we won’t return to the Koepelcafé and sadly, not to the...

We went to the Koepelcafé today for the first time since the renovation and unfortunately, it will also be the last time. The prices have at least doubled, but the quality has gone significantly down.

I ordered a club sandwich, which was very disappointing. The eggs had almost no taste looked like rubber and like they came from a carton, the chicken was yellow and extremely dry, and the overall flavor was bland and unappealing.

My wife ordered meatballs in satay sauce, and those were just as bad. They looked like they came straight out of a can, and they were completely tasteless.

We used to enjoy coming here, but after this experience, we won’t be returning. It’s a real shame to see how much the place has changed and not...
