Unbelievable. Absolutely unacceptable behavior from this restaurant.
We booked a table for 10+ people at a time when the restaurant was almost dead. We brought bday cake and politely asked the staff to keep it and have it later. They said yes.
After our meal, a server (along with – oddly – a very young like 10-year-old child who seemed to be working?) brought dessert plates and forks for everyone. Suddenly, the manager demanded €5 per person – a total of over €50+, just to serve a cake we brought ourselves?! His reasoning? “We’re losing money because you won’t order tiramisu. Seriously?
Let me get this straight: ✔️You said yes to storing the cake. ✔️You served plates and forks without a word. ✔️Then tried to charge us €50 after the fact? ✔️And justified it with lost dessert sales? (If it’s an authentic Italian place, I think you should know bday cake is different from what you can serve?)
That’s not just bad service – that’s DISHONEST and MANIPULATIVE. We were so shocked and upset that we left immediately. The mood was completely ruined - everyone’s.
We would have left a generous tip, if you had just treated us with a little decency, at least, for your valuable customer’s bday.
Restaurants like this don’t survive because people remember how they made them feel. You didn’t just lose money on tiramisu – you lost 10+ customers for life. And everyone they talk to. :)
Shameful business practice....
Read moreWe ventured here after trying to find somewhere to eat in Europaplein, Amsterdam.
Myself and my partner sat down at about 8.00pm, and the restaurant owner (or just waiter) kindly allowed us in!
We ordered two pizza's and they were made in a lovely pizza oven - we could see the pizzas being cooked right in front of us.
Both pizzas were served very quickly and tasted lovely, albeit mine was a little cold. I do need to point out that I did have mortadella and cold buratta on it which I think cooled the pizza down.
Our only negative comment was that when we asked for some balsamic and garlic oil, we were received with a question of 'Are you sure? Why dont you give it a try first' by our server. We were then told that the pizzas are made with specific ingredients in mind and so nothing else should be required.
As the only ones in the restaurant at this time, we felt extremely awkward about this interaction. The reason we wanted to have the balsamic was to use it on our pizza crusts and not for the actual base.
However, our server did say if we wanted it, of course we could have it. We just felt too awkward to ask again!
Our server did ask us about our time in Amsterdam and did give recommendations when visiting Haarlem! This was nice and appreciated.
Overall a pleasant experience with only a little miscommunication...
Read moreI do really like the place in terms of decor. The guy who was serving us was not great, very mediocre hospitality. Funny that I was still eating the last slice and he asked if he could take my plate away (?) As some others said in the reviews, the dough is really good but the toppings dont. I dont mind a smaller selection of pizzas, i think its smart and you camn focus on better products. Unfortunately the topping ingredients were not high quality and the combinations just didnt make sense (even though they are very "standard ones" like burrata and mortadella). This latter one had no real burrata but more like a cheese cream so that they can probably use less burrata per portion, a TON of a pistachio cream that was super fatty, and drenched in olive oil too, which doesnt add anything to a dish that is already full of fatty ingredients. My friends got piccante pizza and those were a bit sour, so heavy on the stomach and just not really good. They had this weird orange sort of sriracha sauce on top that didnt fit the pizza. Vey sad, they ruined an excellent dough. And take out the music, its a restaurant...
