I am writing to express my profound disappointment and discontent regarding the unacceptable treatment I received from the staff at your restaurant, Traveller, located at Scheldeplein RAI. My experience on Friday, March 27, 2025, around 7:00 PM was not only frustrating but also deeply unsettling.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was abruptly stopped by a middle-aged woman with light hair, presumably the hostess. She physically grabbed my arm, preventing me from proceeding further into the establishment. When I asked why she was touching me in such an inappropriate manner, she curtly informed me that there was a party happening and that I could not go any further.

I inquired if there were any available tables for one, to which she asserted that there were none for me. Despite the evident availability of tables, she insisted that I leave. Shortly after, another staff member, a fuller-figured woman with dark hair, joined her and echoed the same sentiment, stating firmly that I needed to leave as they had no tables for me.

I found their behavior not only unprofessional but also rude and dismissive. Such treatment is unacceptable in any customer service setting and does nothing but tarnish the reputation of your establishment. It is my belief that these employees do not possess the necessary skills or demeanor required to work in hospitality and should not be in positions where they can negatively affect patrons' experiences.

I am willing to provide further details or context regarding this incident to management if needed. I strongly advise you to review the conduct of your staff, as it significantly impacts the overall ambiance and image of your restaurant.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to see improvements in staff training and customer service protocols...

The service is friendly, efficient and professional, the space is nice and the kitchen and service is fast. Unfortunately the food is very mediocre. I understand that called the Traveller the menu is meant to be a tour around the world but it means that it all feels very disjointed in terms of having a coherent meal.

There are japanese, viet, korean chinese, thai , indian, malay, italian, french and mexican dishes. The problem with this kind of menu is the risk of being a jack of all trades and master of none. The sashimi bowl was pretty bland, the fish was tasteless but the main problem was the rice was mushy. The beef bulgogi had the same mushy rice and was overly sweet. The peking duck was quite a small portion and the skin wasn't crisp enough and the meat was under seasoned. The calamari was nice. Having an eclectic menu is fine, if you can actually deliver the quality of the dishes, unfortunately the Traveller doesn't. The food isn't terrible but for the price and quality of dishes it is poor value. It's a shame that the food let's it down as everything else in the...

Despite informing both the restaurant in advance (in my reservation note) and our waiter dutiny ordering 4 course menu, that one of our guests has a severe shellfish allergy, we were still served a dish containing “garnalen” (shrimp) This is a serious health risk and completely unacceptable. Second, the dessert we were served was clearly spoiled—it smelled like rotten flesh and tasted bitter. Even our waiter acknowledged the unusual smell, yet the kitchen insisted there was nothing wrong. Eventually, the manager removed the dessert and offered an alternative, but by that point, the damage was done. To make matters worse, all three of us have suffered from stomach issues since the meal. For a restaurant serving a menu, this is shocking. While I appreciate that the spoiled desserts were deducted from our bill and we were offered a round of drinks, this does not make up for the overall experience, especially considering we paid nearly €150, plus parking, for a night that ended in disappointment and illness....

We did the set menu. The Traveller Experience Menu. It was OK. Some stuff was good. Some stuff was just bland. First was a ceviche. Very bland. Just fish with some corn and pomegranate. Next was a a sliced meat like roast beef. It had a little mayonnaise sauce but not enough. Again bland. Up next was a Puri Puri. These were amazing. Chickpeas in a crunchy puff ball with a coriander sauce you pour inside. These disappeared the fastest from our table. Then they brought mussels with some sauce on it. Couldn't find it on the menu so I do not know what it was. We then had a chicken goza. These went quick to. They were very good. Last was the desert. It was a brownie with caramel on top with a side of ice cream. Of course this was great. The ice cream was vanilla but not heavy on the sweet. The brownie with the caramel was done before I could finish it. I would give this place another chance to try the stuff I didn't get to taste.
