An absolutely shocking experience, truly stunned by how terrible this was.
We each ordered separate meat and vegetarian pizzas and they served it all on one plate, after waiting for over 35 minutes to get them.
We re- ordered, and I nicely asked the waitress to please bring the meat and vegetarian pizzas separately. She said okay, and had a bit of a tight face on. At some point, she even rolled her eyes at us.
We waited for at least another 40 minutes, and at this point we were so hungry all over again, it was as if we had not even had the first round. When it finally came, she served it to us with a displeased face, did not say anything, and served the plates carelessly.
I took a bite or two and tasted meat on my pizza.
I saw a small piece of what looked like salami, and asked my friend to check it. She confirmed it was salami.
I then checked another slice, only to find a piece of raw salami stuck to its bottom.
Horrific.
Not only does this raise cross contamination concerns, but when I brought my pizza back to the waitress and told her how I am Muslim AND vegetarian and I could not eat this at all, she just asked if I wanted another. I asked if she could just take it off my bill. She just nodded and looked away, no apology, no nothing. I walked away and went back to the table. She came back out later after serving other customers, and asked me if I ate a piece of the meat, to which I responded that I did. She apologised and said that she warned the chef but that the kitchen staff was new, which is false (we checked). We then asked for the bill and she asked us to pay inside, so we went in and whilst paying, told the staff politely that we understand that these things can happen in hospitality, however they should consider taking requests like this more seriously.
The waitress who served us then came up to us and confirmed that the pizza was removed, and the issue was resolved. My friend then told her that we just wanted to make sure this is taken more seriously and that the situation should be handled better in the future.
The waitress then turned to me and said: “Maybe for next time, you can also give us the reason why, like that you are Muslim, because not all Muslims care the same way about this.”
I told her that there are so many reasons for me to be making a request to keep my vegetarian pizza separate from the meat one to begin with that I should not have to justify myself for making it. It is also basic kitchen practice for serving vegetarian dishes, to not cross contaminate them in the kitchen. It had raw meat on it, like that is not okay. It’s just feedback, take it how you wanna take it but I just have to put it out there.
“It was already taken.”, she responded.
We paid, said thank you, and left.
As we were halfway out the door, my friend overhears her saying something, turns to look back at her, and she starts yelling “If you have a problem with me come say to me, we can talk about it.”
My friend walks back and asks her what she said, to which she repeated that if my friend has a a problem, they can talk about it. She then emphasized that the issue was already resolved. My friend then says “I don’t have a problem with you, but I didn’t like the way you treated my friends.”
The waitress then got sassier and exclaimed how she didn’t like my friend’s attitude, and its in her body language when my friend responded that we were just being polite.
My friend then asked her for her name, but she wouldn’t tell her.
She raised her hands to her face and waved her fingers at us, repeating “Bye bye”.
The audacity of yelling a customer back into the restaurant with attitude like that is absurd. She could not accept the mistakes they made and was lashing out on us about giving her attitude when she was giving us attitude the whole time we were there. Not even a sincere apology when I first brought up the issue and a very clear lack of care.
I am still processing this ridiculous experience.
If you’re vegetarian and/or Muslim, don’t even think about...
Read moreThe restaurant itself is cute, however the service is abysmal at best. The food is unfortunately bland and mediocre. If I could give zero stars for service I would. The blonde 18ish year old girl with the tattoos who "assisted us" was incredible unprofessional and straight up rude. We received no warm welcome, we waited around 40 minutes for our first round of 3 single slice pizzas and they were all placed on top of each other. Then, we waited around 1 hour for our second round of 2 single pizza slices. The waitress gave us no information about the wait time for the pizzas. We asked for the second round of pizzas to be separated as one of us is vegetarian. Our "vegetarian" pizza had a whole raw salami suck to the bottom of it. When we complained the waitress did not initially apologize and it on blamed the kitchen staff being new. She did remove that slice from the bill upon request. As we were paying we politely reiterated that this is cross contamination and that this should be taken more seriously in the future. When mentioned that my friend who requested for her vegetarian pizza to be separated is Muslim and vegetarian she stated that "not all Muslims care and that we should have informed her before" however we did request for the pizzas to be separated. She became very passive aggressive. As we were leaving I turned around and looked at her because I heard her talking. She yelled at me asking "If you have a problem with me come talk to me". I politely explained that I turned because I heard her say something and then informed her that I didn't like the way she treated my friend or handled our service. As having previously worked in hospitality I understand that mistakes happen but her attitude was completely uncalled for. She was incredibly aggravated and provocative. I asked her for her name and she refused to tell me. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you looking for a great pizza place with wonderful service and food. I highly recommend Eatmosfera East which is only a two minute walk away with...
Read moreIf i could give 0 stars i would. Never had such an unpleasant experience at a restaurant in Amsterdam. Aside from the fact that tap water is self-service at the back of the restaurant, the staff were extremely rude. Specifically the blonde waitress with the elbow tattoos was so mean to us for absolutely no reason. We waited 40 minutes for our first round of pizzas, 1 per person for a table of 3. The meat pizza was placed on top of the vegetarians, which raises concerns of cross contamination. We didn’t say anything the first time. We were still hungry after the appetizers and pizzas, so we ordered 2 more, and politely requested that the vegetarian be separated . We waited over an hour to get them, they came in separate plates, but there was a raw piece of salami stuck to the bottom of the vegetarian pizza. When we returned it, we did not receive an apology. We asked for that pizza be removed the order, they complied and finally apologized. We tried to bring up our concerns for future reference while we were paying, and we received really bad attitudes from the staff, eyes rolled and really sarcastic, passive aggressive and hostile comments. They escalated the situation so much that we felt so attacked and unwelcome, and as we were leaving the restaurant, she yelled back at us asking if we had a problem with her. She literally yelled us back into the restaurant, “If you have a problem with me, you can talk about it face to face,” and wouldn’t give us her name to raise a complaint. Absolutely horrible experience. Never been treated this way before, would not recommend this place to anyone. The food also did not taste fresh, so none of that was worth it. We should have gotten at least a partial refund or a...
