I have to give that place 1 star review and if i could I would have given it 0 stars. We went to Lombardo’s yesterday afternoon around 16.00 and the place was empty. We were with our baby boy who was sleeping in his stroller. The moment we attempted to put the stroller in (still in the carrying process) the girl who was there told me in a strict way that we are not allowed to put the stroller inside as there is no space. I responded that the place was empty and still she said that these are rules from the owner and could do nothing about it. We exited the place to align with our company if we were to stay or leave. We decided to stay and sit outside so I went back inside to get a menu for us to decide what to order. I take the menu and go outside: the girl immediately follows me and asks for the menu back and indicates in a very rude and aggressive way that there is a menu on the wall for us to check. She claimed that this was the ONLY menu she had and there were more clients who needed it. Noted that we were already there before the clients she mentioned. We nevertheless ordered and stayed outside. The food was decent but we were all shocked by her behavior. As if that was not enough she later on took her break and sat opposite us where we could clearly see that she was annoyed and chatting to her friend about us. I am sorry but serving decent food is not enough if you cannot treat your clients properly. We will never go back and will not recommend this...
Read moreThis was our last meal in Amsterdam and I have to say, they had the best burger i have ever had! I mean, no joke! I ordered the cheesy freak, my daughter ordered the silly cheesesteak and my other daughter and hubby got the classic plus we ordered a side of roasted potatoes. Our burgers were cooked PERFECTLY to medium rare! The three cheeses were so nicely melted and complemented each other beautifully. The burger was juicy but somehow not greasy! We realized this just be the difference between American beef and grass fed Dutch beef! And the potatoes were to die for! I do not typically like roasted potatoes, but these were perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked so they were slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
The service was spot on! When we walked in, there were not enough seats, but the staff took our order, and assured us that there would be seats by the time our food was ready. As soon as other patrons finished their meal, the staff called us in from outside to come and take our seats. Minutes later, our meal was delivered! They were so friendly and accommodating to us and made conversation. The vibe is very inviting and cozy. It is amazing that they were able to rotate all of the patrons in and out in an appropriate amount of time.
I loved the music too! I am so glad we came here! It was a perfect end to our visit...
Read moreIf my aunt Mathilda had been there she would say - “Oh, darling, let me tell you about Lombardo’s — what an experience! I popped in expecting your run-of-the-mill burger joint, but no, this is quite the saucy little establishment.
Now, the Spicy Dragon — heavens above, it earns its name! A proper kick of heat that actually made me clutch my pearls for a second (in delight, mind you). The meat was oozing juices like a midsummer romance — rich, flavorful, and cooked to sinful perfection. You could almost taste the cow’s last happy thoughts.
Then, of course, the vegan burger. Normally, I’d roll my eyes at such things, but my dear, it was to die for! It tasted alarmingly like the real deal — enough to make one question the boundaries of science and nature. Though, with the EU’s new rather hawkish policies on what can and cannot be called a “burger,” Lombardo’s might soon need to rename it something dreadfully unsexy like “plant-based circular delight.”
As for the potatoes, they were good — don’t get me wrong — but they’re baked, and baked is fine for polite company. Still, fried is better. Some things in life simply need oil and sin, darling.
All in all, Lombardo’s is a deliciously naughty little spot — worth every calorie, every tingle, and every bit of...
