I brought 5 people to their new restaurant and they complained one of us didn't order any food just drinks which they said nothing at the time and complained we stood in the middle of a restaurant while waiting for our table as one of their staff suggested us to stand there for having wine although no one ever came up to us to order the drinks. They also charged you money even just for tap water!
This place is truly not worth it!!! Go to other places that will appreciate you and your money more!
1st visit: The food was delicious. Service was pretty slow and the staff looked overwhelming at the peak hours but friendly. Beautiful interior design. However, the tables are extremely small. It was so hard to set everything on the table. The tables are also very close to each other. The dining environment was overcrowded and loud. We had to shout to hear each other for conversation. Even though the food was good, not sure we’ll return to this dining environment.
Update after 2nd visit: The whole environment was even louder than the first time because it played R&B and hip-hop music which completely didn’t fit the place. We asked the manager to down it down since we struggled to hear each other. The manager refused at first and replied: there are 70 other people out there! I replied: but they don't sit next to the speaker! He did turn it down for a while and then turned it back again even higher volume later on. A French-greek dining restaurant played loud hip-hop music. Seriously?! IT IS NOT A BAR!
The Lamb rump was very salty. Besides, 6 of us no one can understand their menu! We went for Louloumades which was the most unsatisfied dessert I ever had!
There is certainly a better choice for steak and a better dining environment in Amsterdam since that's the only thing I like the most. There...
Read moreEDIT: I am very grateful for Team Massalia's positive reaction to my feedback - it tells me that my experience with their service was atypical, so I will gladly return to taste their delicious food again. Thank you! Original Post: I made a reservation by phone last Friday evening, for lunch on Saturday, and the person who took my reservation was super kind, mentioning for example that it was good that I brought up we'd be going with a baby so they could reserve a table with room for the stroller. When we arrived the next day at the arranged time and said we had a reservation, the waitress told us they had no record of it... after that, it felt like she thought we had lied about calling the night before, or something like that, because she was quite rude in multiple ways. To mention one thing, it took over 20 minutes to bring the high-chair we had asked for when we arrived and to take our drinks order, while other tables were served multiple times (to be fair, water was brought before that) - it really felt like she was mad at us for some reason. It's not really a big issue if they somehow lost record of our reservation, after all, there were plenty of free tables, but being rude about it really made the whole experience quite frustrating. Just saying "sorry if we somehow lost record of your reservation" would've made the whole difference. It wasn't my first time there, the food is pretty amazing, but when we left all we could talk about was how rude the...
Read moreAmazing Greek modern food style. Quality of the dishes is supreme. Terrace is big and place is comfortable. They have a lot of waiters (for Dutch standards) and they are helpful and nice. The only negative part is that, as it was the 3rd opening day since the started, they were still settling up, and they confused our main dish. The service was also really slow, but that's the common in Amsterdam. The only person who could realized what was going on (regarding the orders and timings) was the owner, who was really organizing his staff so everything should run smoothly. On the other hand, after making the mistake with our main dish, while we were waiting for it, the owner offered us the wrong order for free, which is a non common detail in any other Amsterdam's Dutch restaurant. He also apologied for the mistake, which is a good sign, that you want your clients to be happy. Although, we waited long, I recommend the restaurant and will come back for sure.
P.S. Pay attention to the toilets, as the music and style are very unique. It has...
