Travelling from another country and you don’t know how things work at restaurants/ activity or even travelling around, you would assume that staff members would be helpful, unfortunately this was not the case. No one to greet us when we arrived. I had to use my initiative once again to speak to staff member about my booking. Otherwise we would’ve been totally ignored, like the couple that arrived before us!
Myself and partner arrived 1 hour early to our booking and asked if there was a possibility to be seated, we were told no- which was fine and proceeded leave and explore the area until our table was ready. However, there was a table available downstairs! I saw the waiter I spoke to upstairs and asked if we could sit there. We were informed we could, but as I paid for a deposit for the booking it won’t be refunded if we ordered from the downstairs menu! I was completely confused at this point, and ordered from the upstairs menu! So unnecessary!!! And practically double of what we would’ve paid if we just originally ate downstairs.
There are no details on the website for eating downstairs. The concept of downstairs was not explained to us, sometimes the chef shouted out the orders and sometimes that one staff member brought people their food!
Overall experience was really disappointing! Their staff should’ve returned the deposit and just allowed us to eat down stairs.
The waiter explained the menu and that was the only semi positive take away.
Service was slow!!!! People that arrived after us were receiving their food at least 20 mins before us.
This experience completely ruined my anniversary dinner!
I would advise if you’re going to visit here, just get...
Read moreLiterally discovered this gem by walking by and seeing the michelin sticker (and falling for it lmao). This place is made with love, attention to detail, charm and a some good humor. We went in and had the french toast and it was a buttery sweet cloud made by the gods of toast. I swear when I took the first bite I knew I had to try this high. So we came the next day, high like a kite and basically ordered all of their stuff. The chicken burger/sando, the goat cheese and, again, the french toast. Even though they closed the kitchen at 10pm (they serve only cheeseburgers after), they still served us at 9:55 and brought us everything we wanted. And the food was bomb. The fried chicken was literally better than at 90% of fried chicken spots in amsterdam lol. 10/10. The cocktails are really really solid too. The service (the manager is super cool) is very passionate, friendly and funny and they play great music in the upper area. Its so cozy and chill up there while the lower floor kind of gives off of a minimalist japanese metrostation vibe.
This is one of my most favorite places here in Amsterdam, would...
Read moreRecently visited Paindemie in Amsterdam and it was an absolute delight! Easily one of the best burger spots in the city. While they offer a fast-food style setup downstairs, I highly recommend waiting for a table upstairs. The vibe there is fantastic, resembling a chic cocktail bar with friendly hosts that make the experience even more enjoyable.
For a more social experience, you can also choose to sit at the bar. It’s a great spot to hang out, meet new people, and yes, you can order food there too! Speaking of drinks, don’t miss out on their unique Japanese cocktails – they are a must-try.
The décor of Paindemie adds to its charm. Walking in, you’re greeted with an Asian-style metro station theme. As you head upstairs, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the restaurant with its inviting ambiance. The burgers are not only delicious but also reasonably sized, offering good value for the price.
In summary, Paindemie is a gem in Amsterdam for burger enthusiasts and those looking for a great atmosphere. I’m already looking forward to...
