May 2022 experience: Having seen the high score, I visited this place in May 2022. Let's deep-dive into it. One might possibly have a better experience if they do a takeout order, and eat at their own place. If I were able to do that, it would have added one point to the score (+1).
This place is located on a busy street, in a very attractive location in Amsterdam.
Here is some of the self-service etiquette I observed: I received drinks in their original emballage, and the glass, ice, and lemon slices are available — if you want them, just take them yourself. It is the same with utensils — you will get the food, and if you want utensils, take them yourself. You will get a buzzer disc, which will buzz when the food is ready. No rating for this, it is just information.
With that out of the way, let's get to the common review. The staff was very professionally-friendly. That is 5/5.
The music is on the moderately loud side. I couldn't have a good conversation in here. Also, the space is on the small side, and relatively uncomfortable. Ambient: 2/5.
My order consisted of a Cheesy Burger (burger + fries), with BBQ sauce and some Coca-Cola. The portion is on the tight side for the price, and overall the taste had the note of something not on the menu... see, the Cheesy Burger has at least two types of cheese, caramelized onions, and arugula. What I tasted was some sour-sweet note that — in my intuition — translates as something wrong with the meat, which I will attribute to my individual interpretation. I cannot rate the food as I wasn‘t able to try it.
The staff is unfriendly, slow, not professional. I own cafes myself, hence I know a bit about customer care and also how things can be stressy. However, when I entered the restaurant approx only 4 tables were occupied and rather little was going on.
I asked for how long it‘ll take to prepare the food: 15 mins. Perfect, I had a train leaving in 30 mins. So I ordered food to take away.
After roughly 13 mins I wanted to check in about the status. The waiter told me ‚you only ordered 13 mins ago. I told you it’s 15.‘ I kindly told him that I just try to check in about the status. He answered ‚it‘s in preparation, another 7-8 mins‘
This would mean that I miss the train if I wait for the food. So I told him that I need to leave now and he can enjoy my burger (which I already paid) and I left the store.
As stated above: I cannot rate the food. But I can rate the service. It‘s 0 stars. When I see a busy customer I take my time in a non-stressful environment in order to assist. This person today failed high times. And playing cool didn‘t help at all. It‘s not cool to treat customers like unwelcomed. His whole appearance was ‘I don’t care’
