Renato's Osteria - De Pijp — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I visited Renatos Osteria with my partner on Easter Sunday for a reserved holiday dinner. Nobody greeted us on arrival. We sat ourselves & waited 35 minutes to receive the menu despite getting our drinks & been noticed.

Mid way through the meal I asked for another round of drinks & the waitress threw my current drink away. I mentioned it to the manager & she wanted to give me 1/3 back but never did. The beef I ordered was quite fatty & not worth the price. Asides from this the overall service was extremely slow & lack lustre. 2hours 20 minutes to have dinner.

There was also sides forgotten that we ordered. Trying to get staffs attention is next to impossible. I contacted them complaining about these issues & the manager invited me back offering a glass of wine, seriously? Sat ourselves, Forgotten food, drink thrown away & this was the resolution they offer.

our bill was €130 however, the service & quality of food we received did not match that value in the slightest.

I would not recommenced Renato’s Osteria as it seems to be under par in comparison to the many eateries...

We wanted to try new Italian restaurants in Amsterdam and we found this one that was not too far from our location of the day. The place is nice, clean and with a nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly when we arrived and quickly took our order. And then the bad experience started. After 1 hour despite we were the second small group to arrive, we had no food. The waitress was not giving us any attention. Like if everything was normal. I then asked the waiter who apologised and told us the food will arrive soon. We had food after more than 1 hour and 30 minutes... Just crazy. After the starter, the main and the desserts arrived on time. But surely because the waiter was doing the jobs of the two waitresses who were not professional at all and doing quite nothing. Food was good, but not exceptional for this price and quantity. If there was an option to give zero or minus star I would assign it to this place. We went there with my husband and my parents in law for Sunday dinner. It was awful! Simply very bad! Where to start? cutlery was dirty (we sent it away, never got sorry for this). we asked for bread to accomplish our starters - it has never arrived. dishes were cold and we returned one dish to chef. pasta was horrible, just very very bad (stuck together like it was one piece). Nobody provided us with a word of apologies. The service lady did not say even sorry in any sort of way. And we had to pay for all of this! Full price, nothing was suggested to be taken out from the bill ( 2 dishes were not eaten). The only good thing - wine was nice. So to sum up - don’t go there. And for the manager of this place - it is really a shame. Our family love Italian food, we live in Amsterdam for many years and level of service we experienced was not acceptable at all.
