We had the burrata and the mussels to start: burrata was too firm, more like mozzarella - I want my burrata runny and fresh. The mussels were very flavorful.
Then we had the shrimp and the pumpkin pastas: both very bland. Had to add salt and pepper to what was a very flavorless dish.
From what I understand, they make their own pasta but it’s important to note that they only make and serve 1 kind of pasta: orecchiette. Personally i found the pasta way too starchy and grain-y, which added to the blandness of the dishes.
We then shared the tiramisu, which was nice, and we both had 1 glass of tasty white wine. We paid €100 in total, which felt pretty high for a disappointing pasta experience.
The service is really friendly and adequate. Personally I am not a fan of the decor, it’s not exactly Italian, authentic or even cozy. All in all, I’m afraid I can not recommend...
Read moreOne of my (new) favourite places here. The food is not only respectably affordable, but offers a quality that makes you think it recently came from a shipment straight from Puglia. The owner being from Puglia itself, grants the restaurant an authenticity you don't often see with other places that claim to take you to their place of origin. I have no comments on the food, which I always do. It was simply delicious. If you are having a dessert, get the custard cake, I beg of you. Get tiramisu at any other Italian place, the cake however, will be a worthwhile experience on its own. When we asked how they made it, the owner rushed back to bring us the cookbook with the page openend on said cake. They are not shy with proportions but still manage to balance a great...
Read moreMy wife and I wandered into Santi & Santini's Puglia Restaurant after a long day of travel. It was a happy meeting. It was cozy and charming, with a very friendly wait staff. We split a pasta dish and salad, hoping to save room for dessert. All of their pasta dishes are prepared using orecchiette. Cooked Italian style - a little chewy, with a wonderful northern-Italian sauce. The meatballs were dense but tender. Dessert was the best part of an already enjoyable meal. The pasticciotto leccese was warm and the crust was light and flaky. It melted in our mouths. The crustata ricotta e cioccolato was a bit like cheesecake with a shortbread crust. The chocolate was subtle. My only regret was not being able to try more of the menu. Two weary travelers ate and were treated...
