Super Lyan — Restaurant in Amsterdam

This is a very interesting place.

I visited it with the expectation of a good experience, but this place is awesome in my book!

Firstly, this place is a good looker. It is well-furnished, aesthetically sound in pink/purple/indigo tones, very clean, and quiet enough to comfortably have a conversation if you have come here for it (I seem to have had the luck of coming here when it wasn't busy). Seats are available both at the bar itself and around it.

I planned to give a taste test to two drinks: one named Mayaimi Vice, and White Noise. Also, a full disclosure, I am not proficient with this stuff at all. A plain consumer.

Mayaimi Vice. This drink resembles Miami Vice drink by the name and the general idea: topped with a very sweet foam, it won me from that first sip, and I would probably appeal to have my next one with more foam and less of the drink under. Though, my favorite so far.

White Noise. This drink packs an immediate punch. While it took me a very short time to swallow the Mayaimi Vice without feeling much of a difference, White Noise let me immediately know that I will need to take my time with it. And so I did. Reporting some four hours later, the real high was yet to arrive.

Something I haven't experienced before is that the folks at the bar are served water throughout the entire course. Water glasses got refilled soon after they were emptied. Very nice of the crew.

Prices are very fair, and the quality is high. This is one of the 5/5 value assessments.

Oh, one big plus: they separate well the outside from the inside, which also means good protection from any smoking that might take place outside.

Super Lyan is hands down one of the best cocktail bars in Amsterdam! The first thing that grabs you? The neon-purple glow wrapping around the cocktail station, like a little island where all the magic happens. You can sip at the bar or sink into the couches while nibbling on small bites. The cocktail list is anything but ordinary. Every drink is carefully crafted, with a story to tell, flip through the menu or ask the incredibly skilled bartenders for the backstory. A great way to start? The Daiquiri with William George rum, a fragrant Amsterdam-born spirit that’s crisp and refreshing. Want to go bolder? Try the North Sea Boulevardier, made with Toki whisky, invasive plants, and cordyceps, served with an oyster-extract pearl that bursts in your mouth before the cocktail smooths it all out. Prices lean toward the higher side, but totally fair for the level of craftsmanship. The bartenders are not only masters of their art but also super friendly and happy to guide you. If you’re looking for cocktails that push boundaries while staying seriously drinkable, this is the place!

La lista dei cocktail è ampia e mai banale, ogni drink ha una storia dietro e i bartender sono bravissimi nel raccontarla e consigliarvi al meglio. Da provare il Daiquiri con William George, fresco e profumatissimo, oppure il più complesso North Sea Boulevardier, servito con una sorprendente perla di ostrica. Possibly the best bar in the world. The place is nicely built, the drinks are really good but what makes this place a drinker’s delight is the staff.

I visited this place thrice and each time, without fail, I was greeted with a smile by the entire staff - YES, every single person said Hi and smiled, not just on one of the days but all three days. I have never been to a bar that is so welcoming. The way these guys work and the sync between them is phenomenal. It is clear that everyone at Super Lyan takes their job seriously, resulting in a top-class service that makes you come back again and for more.

Special shout-out to my man Pierre. He is super nice to talk to, has a great sense of humour, suggested me possibly the best cocktail I’ve had in a while and is simply amazing at what he does.

Another exceptional person at this establishment - Angelos. He looked after me on my first visit and set the tone for me to come back for the rest of my trip. Without a doubt, he is great at his job and we need more bartenders like him (and Pierre).

To summarise, this place is easily one of the best bars in the world and I am glad I randomly stumbled upon this place. If you ever end up being here, ask for Pierre (again, one of the nicest people out there) or Angelos and you’d be well taken care of.
