First of all the food was good and nothing on that part to say. Our server was rude to us and just tried upselling everything things.. Asked for recommendations of a good beer, server chose the most expensive, we asked why and he said all is the same. We were ask if we wanted garlic bred or non garlic bred to our meal, as if it’s was a part of the meal, but it was with extra cost, wich is fine if specified. NO FREE TAP WATER.. I asked for a small cup of tap water to complain my beer, but I was shown the biggest and expensiveness bottle of water the waiter could find for me.. It’s a shame because the food was excellent and it seemed like the other servants were more kind and respectful. At final the waiter expressed disappointment because of not tipping, when asked on the terminal.

A lovely place centrally located in Amsterdam serving authentic Nepali and North Indian cuisine. The restaurant is small and inconspicuous but has character and yes, the food is indeed very good with a super friendly service. There is a wide range of dishes to choose from the menu. The dishes flavours, textures, and aromas were a delight to the senses, offering a fulfilling experience. We started with Nepali vegetarian kothey momos and for the main course paneer butter masala with tandori roti followed by mango kulfi and gulab jamoon for desert. We enjoyed the food and all the dishes were delicious and tasty. Will definitely visit again if we return to Amsterdam. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed a wonderful Nepalese / Indian meal at the Yeti. Shailendra was our waiter and he took very good care of us. He provided several suggestions and lively banter. We started with Chicken Jhol, which was seasoned well, hot and delicious. We ordered several entrees and shared; butter chicken, dal beat rã masu, lamb vindaloo, and chicken tiki masala. We also ordered garlic naan. All of our dishes were so flavorful and the lamb vindaloo was as a spicy delight! We loved everything and will return next trips to Amsterdam.

Wow. I have NEVER had such an experience in all my life ANYWHERE.

I came in there at 8:30pm with my elderly parents who had come to Amsterdam to visit me. I had already eaten at a work do so I was just going to sit with them. The place was empty except for one table!

And yet “he”, the Yeti hunter, refused to serve us. Our crime - my parents wanted to share the €22 main course because at the age of 80 they can’t eat that much. Oh and we were also ordering beer, wine, coke, one starter and one bread.

And yet Yeti Hunter told us that our order was Insufficient for him to bother serving us. And so we had to be bullied into ordering an extra main dish we didn’t want or need…or leave. So we left.

If you care about your parents being respected DONT come here. If you care about people being accommodated for their different needs DONT come here. If you care about the environment and not wasting resources DONT come here. If you care about good customer service DONT come here.

And Yeti hunter, I suggest you go back to Yeti hunting. You will be more successful.

PS At least one good thing came out of Yeti Hunter forcing us out of his empty cave. We ended up at Maenam Thai which was the exact opposite. Amazing, friendly and kind customer service combined with...

First of all I’ll start with the food, because it was the only thing we enjoyed. Great chefs.

That’s the only positive thing. The service was beyond terrible. Not only did it take a while to get served, but that service was abysmal.

It started when we were told we weren’t allowed to laugh but only smile. This perplexed us as surely it creates a pleasant and positive environment that invites other potential customers in, but no. Every laugh from that point our waiter would approach slightly as to intimidate us (this didn’t work).

It was clear we weren’t welcome here. We had friends who are of colour but we were all English speaking people also, and it’s clear that they didn’t enjoy this. They wanted us out as soon as possible to the point where plates were LITERALLY taken from people who were still eating. The level of sass from both waiters was ridiculous.

To top it off when we paid they asked if we wanted to tip, which we didn’t, as once again the service was terrible. As soon as all parties paid without a tip we were brushed passed to clear the table in an aggressive tone. Perhaps if you were pleasant and just a nice human being we would’ve left a tip.

If you’re a traveller, a person of colour or simply non-Dutch, DO...

I rarely do this but the service/experience was horrific and one of the worst I’ve had in any restaurant. We had a reservation and the staff didn’t acknowledge us for over 5 minutes. When they finally sat us, we got drink menus but no food menus for over 20 minutes while everyone else who came in after us got their orders taken first. By the way, there’s only about 10 tables total in the entire restaurant so the fact that they are unable to manage this is an issue. The food was beyond average and we waited for the bill for another 20 minutes before finally getting up and walking to the front to get their attention AGAIN. This was after we flagged down the server, he acknowledged us and then proceeded to take two more orders before forgetting we wanted the bill. As a restaurant owner in the states and over 10+ years of hospitality experience, we should have walked out. Sadly, because we didn’t, my fiancée got food poisoning from the dinner and has been sick in bed all day.

Major disappointment on all fronts and this place should be embarrassed at the “experience” they offer. Would never go back and recommend...
