Wow. I have NEVER had such an experience in all my life ANYWHERE.
I came in there at 8:30pm with my elderly parents who had come to Amsterdam to visit me. I had already eaten at a work do so I was just going to sit with them. The place was empty except for one table!
And yet “he”, the Yeti hunter, refused to serve us. Our crime - my parents wanted to share the €22 main course because at the age of 80 they can’t eat that much. Oh and we were also ordering beer, wine, coke, one starter and one bread.
And yet Yeti Hunter told us that our order was Insufficient for him to bother serving us. And so we had to be bullied into ordering an extra main dish we didn’t want or need…or leave. So we left.
If you care about your parents being respected DONT come here. If you care about people being accommodated for their different needs DONT come here. If you care about the environment and not wasting resources DONT come here. If you care about good customer service DONT come here.
And Yeti hunter, I suggest you go back to Yeti hunting. You will be more successful.
PS At least one good thing came out of Yeti Hunter forcing us out of his empty cave. We ended up at Maenam Thai which was the exact opposite. Amazing, friendly and kind customer service combined with...
Read moreFirst of all I’ll start with the food, because it was the only thing we enjoyed. Great chefs.
That’s the only positive thing. The service was beyond terrible. Not only did it take a while to get served, but that service was abysmal.
It started when we were told we weren’t allowed to laugh but only smile. This perplexed us as surely it creates a pleasant and positive environment that invites other potential customers in, but no. Every laugh from that point our waiter would approach slightly as to intimidate us (this didn’t work).
It was clear we weren’t welcome here. We had friends who are of colour but we were all English speaking people also, and it’s clear that they didn’t enjoy this. They wanted us out as soon as possible to the point where plates were LITERALLY taken from people who were still eating. The level of sass from both waiters was ridiculous.
To top it off when we paid they asked if we wanted to tip, which we didn’t, as once again the service was terrible. As soon as all parties paid without a tip we were brushed passed to clear the table in an aggressive tone. Perhaps if you were pleasant and just a nice human being we would’ve left a tip.
If you’re a traveller, a person of colour or simply non-Dutch, DO...
Read moreI rarely do this but the service/experience was horrific and one of the worst I’ve had in any restaurant. We had a reservation and the staff didn’t acknowledge us for over 5 minutes. When they finally sat us, we got drink menus but no food menus for over 20 minutes while everyone else who came in after us got their orders taken first. By the way, there’s only about 10 tables total in the entire restaurant so the fact that they are unable to manage this is an issue. The food was beyond average and we waited for the bill for another 20 minutes before finally getting up and walking to the front to get their attention AGAIN. This was after we flagged down the server, he acknowledged us and then proceeded to take two more orders before forgetting we wanted the bill. As a restaurant owner in the states and over 10+ years of hospitality experience, we should have walked out. Sadly, because we didn’t, my fiancée got food poisoning from the dinner and has been sick in bed all day.
Major disappointment on all fronts and this place should be embarrassed at the “experience” they offer. Would never go back and recommend...
