Even though it took the waiter 25 min to even take our order and he had to come ask again what we've ordered (to then bring the wrong things anyway), we kept our good mood, because it seemed to be his first day, he was the only waiter and the place was super busy and he stayed very friendly throughout. He accidently spilled the freshly squeezed orange juice (which we didn't even order) over my friend's pullover, scarf and jacket. Things like that can happen, even though it was annoying since we had to wash the clothes in the bathroom and clearly things wouldn't have dried up so quickly and we didn't have our things in Amsterdam. All of this wouldn't have been such a big deal, if the woman (owner?) in the kitchen hadn't been so rude to us. She was obviously annoyed by me addressing our "problem" and trying to find a solution (my friend couldn't go outside in a T-Shirt - it was super cold). Also she didn't even offer to take over the dry-cleaning costs, nor maybe offering to invite us due to the circumstances. She was so "friendly" to take one omlette off the bill though and (after asking her to) she also took off the orange juice, which we never ordered and got spilled all over the clothes! She couldn't be bothered less.
To conclude: a disappointing experience from a human...
Read moreOur most recent experience in Toos&Roos was extremely frustrating! We’ve visited about six times now and aside from this, every time has been fantastic! We always get the same dish which is usually pretty consistent (the Dutch Lunch with soup, bread, cheese, salad and bitterballen). After waiting over thirty minutes for the soup, it arrived - with no bitterballen but with mini sausages instead. When we asked about this, the staff member informed us that there weren’t any bitterballs left (it was 10am) - which we would have appreciated knowing before ordering as it’s the main reason we go so often!
As I don’t eat pork I did ask what was in the sausages but he didn’t seem to know (no translation issue as he was English), so I was unable to eat those. The soup was also pretty cold and bread tasted stale - which just isn’t what we expected from somewhere we usually love!
Unfortunately the staff weren’t as friendly as usual and the music didn’t have the most welcoming atmosphere this time. Really sad that we won’t be rushing back here - as it used to be our absolute favourite!

Read moreWe spontaneously visited this place to have a late breakfast as all other places were packed in the same street. There were still lots of tables available here so we gave it a shot.
From the beginning it was a bit uncomfortable as the music was super loud. For a breakfast café it should be toned down a bit. It also took a looong time for the staff to come over and take our order. Even though there were only very few customers.
We had a cappuccino, sandwiches with chicken & bacon and one with tuna melt. The bread was not the kind we expected- we thought it would be toasted. It was difficult to eat as the slices were huge as you can see in my photo. The chicken sandwich was alright but the tuna melt was not good. I didn't like it at all. Also, the cutlery was dirty and my Partner's knife was damaged. Another customer also asked for a new knife. The cappuccino came with sugar but one of the was already ripped open ?! Does the staff not check what they serve to customers??
Very weird. We asked for a new one but overall it wasn't comfortable and overpriced. I don't recommend...
