Had a really lovely time celebrating my husband’s birthday here with our group of friends and family. The communication before booking was very clear via email. The venue has a great view and decor. The singer, music and feather dancing girls were a great addition. I wish the show started earlier or there was more of it to enjoy. The food was amazing , especially the appetizers! Compliments to the kitchen staff. The drinks were made well and the desserts were nice. Love the birthday sparkler and special message on my husband’s plate. The servers were very kind and professional and spoke English with us. They made sure we were ok with everything and helped with any organization. They were also very nice to the few kids that came to the party which I really appreciated. I felt it was the best service I have ever received in the Netherlands. They had excellent substitution dishes for one guest who was vegan. Some guests were able to stay longer at the bar or lounge after our booking slot was finished which was very convenient. I really wanted a special night as if I was back home in New York and this place was very close to what I was looking for. I highly recommend this venue to anyone for a special celebration or a romantic evening out.
Our only negative experience was with the lady downstairs of the building who checks you in before you take the elevators up who was quite rude to some of my guests about a child’s attire - there was no need for such comments especially in front of the child-which made my guest leave but after speaking with the venue’s management it was resolved in a very professional manner and my guest was able to come back. Although the downstairs lady refused to apologize when spoken with we did not let that ruin our night and our experience was very positive due to the quick resolution of the organizers upstairs. Thank you very much for the excellent service you provided.
To the lady who left a comment here about the same night that the children ruined her vibe. I’m sorry you felt that and I apologize to you. We did our best with them unfortunately they were not behaving like dolls but playing near our tables. I hope on the rare occasion that you have to bring your own children for a special celebration somewhere no one takes the time to leave a public review that your children affected their evening in a negative way....
Read moreStyle Over Substance: A chaotic, overrated experience
Ventuno Amsterdam might look the part with its rooftop setting and polished NYC-inspired design, but it quickly becomes clear that this is not a refined dining experience but just a well-dressed mess.
Let’s start with the drinks. We ordered an Espresso Martini and a gin & tonic, and what followed was a complete failure in basic bar service. The entire tonic was poured into the glass without asking, with no option to adjust the ratio and no question about garnish- lemon, orange, cucumber? None of that. In any setting that calls itself high-end, the guest is asked. It's standard etiquette, and it was completely ignored here.
Moving to the food service, things only got worse. I was served my main dish 10 minutes before my son received his, so I ended up eating cold fish while waiting, in what should’ve been a coordinated dinner. When I brought it up, I wasn’t offered an apology instead, a waiter passing by, decided to lecture me about their “food sharing concept.” That’s not hospitality, that’s avoidance wrapped in bad attitude.
And just to be clear, the restaurant was far from full. As my photos show, only a few tables were occupied. So the long waits can't be blamed on a busy service. We then waited 35 minutes for a “Rocher” dessert—a pretty but uninspired oversized chocolate ball. Definitely not worth the wait.
Service overall was inconsistent and completely unpolished. Our waitress, an Eastern European woman, did not seem familiar with what fine dining demands—politeness, pacing, discretion, and finesse. Meanwhile, another waiter was racing around the room with a tablet, creating more stress than service.
The only decent part? The lounge music in between the chaos. But even that couldn’t make up for the live jazz set, which was painful to the ears and out of place in a venue that clearly doesn't know what experience it's trying to offer.
I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a refined night out. Ventuno is all surface, no substance—and clearly not ready to deliver on the promise it’s trying to sell. That was our...
Read moreThis is another place where Instagram and the look of the restaurant lure you in. Reservations must be made online in advance where you have to pay a 25pp deposit upfront to get a table. Upon arrival, there is an English-speaking hostess who escorts you upstairs in the elevator. Upstairs you are welcomed and your coats are hung up and you are escorted to your table. So far all is well.
When you book, you can choose either the lounge or the main restaurant. The lounge is nice for a drink, but the food is really best in the main restaurant.
The venue is really nice and nicely set up. The tables with the benches and the DJ playing nice songs is fantastic. The service is not bad but there is just not enough staff to get the service you would expect. You have to wait quite a long time or wave for service and drinks are not asked for continuously. (Such a shame because the upsale could be much better).
The cocktails are good and super tasty. You do pay 18 euros for 1 cocktail like everywhere else in Amsterdam.
The food is really heavily disappointing. It is supposed to be New York Italian well the portions of food are definitely not inspired by America because they are so small. 4 raviolis for a pasta dish you would have to share. For 26 euros! And then it really tastes like nothing at all. It's cold really way too a la dente and really nothing Italian about it.
We had a crispy citrus that had 2 small pieces of orange on it and otherwise it was just a plate of fennel with no flavor.
The burrata was good but not super spectacular. I think the steak tatar was still the best dish or the patatos.
For someone who doesn't eat meat. So as someone in our company here is little choice and tasteless.
The best ting you can eat here are the desserts! The tiramisu was good!
I indicated several times that we did not like the food and that it was totally not up to our expectations. But unfortunately this was kind of brushed off with yes soon we will have a new menu.
I never have to go here again. For this money there are so many better restaurants with much...
