We sat down here on our way to a concert, planning to grab a quick bite. The menu completely caught us by surprise and with every new option we became more enthusiastic and had more fun. I'm sorry, but many Italians would roll over in their graves if they saw what was on these pizza's. However, it resulted in us ending up with exactly the pizza's we wanted as my friend and I decided to split half-half between the two of us. We ordered the Prima Vera and the Le Cavaliere and pretty much rolled out of the restaurant, very content and happy to have a little walk to the concert to digest some food. Considering the amount of toppings on the pizza's, both were really tasty and none of the ingredients conflicted with each other in flavours. The little specks of chili peppers gave some bites a bit of a kick that my friend enjoyed more than me, but we were warned.
As for the restaurant, it took us a bit to get the attention of a waiter when walking in, and the location itself isn't extremely cozy (I've been in Italian restaurants that are better in this department) and when full I can imagine it can be very crowded and become very loud. Paying was done quickly when we walked up to the counter, which we did because we were short on time at that point and waiting for staff would have taken too much time. Also, one of the sets of cutlery we had on the table was clearly used by someone else, or not properly cleaned...
Read moreVisiting Groningen for the weekend, decided to go for pizza. A bit of googling suggested this place. Seemed a bit secluded, so maybe not too busy, but wow was it busy. Locals, foreigners, people with reservations and people like us who just dropped by, even people waiting outside to be seated. Turned out the wait was very short so we were seated pretty quickly. Service was also very fast despite it being so busy. We got our drinks in no-time, then some bread with garlic butter and soon after that the pizzas we ordered. They tasted great and were certainly filling enough despite not costing very much. We did not finish one of the pizzas and still had some bread left over which the server suggested packing for us so we could take it home. Would definitely recommend going here when looking for good and...
Read moreIt was so great!! I have no complaints. The interior is reminiscent of Italy, with a dark interior and paintings and statues all around. The service was great, the food was incredible - and the prices were pretty cheap for Groningen. Will definitely be back here again. I had the romana pasta with spaghetti, and their dessert of the month, and which was lemon curd served in actual lemon skin, with whipped cream and ice cream on the side. They have an open kitchen too, which was...
