Bigwood — Restaurant in Philipsburg

I was so disappointed. We ordered the conch fritters and they seemed to be undercooked inside. We were looking for chunks of conch inside the fritter and found nothing but the batter with some seasoning, but undercooked. Then we ordered ox tails... OMG these had to be the smallest, non meaty ox tails on the island. They tasted OK at best, nothing special.

Each time we needed something, like drinks, a food menu, or even the bill to pay, we had to wait a minimum of 20 minutes or more for each request. THIS SPOT IS NOT THAT BIG.

Different staff would tell us something different... "The machine is down", "the Internet is slow"... etc. DO NOT DRINK THE TAP WATER, IT IS NOT FILTERED. BUY BOTTLED WATER INSTEAD.

Other than the location, I would not recommend this tourist trap. 👎🏾 If you're looking for drinks and hanging out/people watching, this may be your place, otherwise don't...

Great location on the boardwalk at Philipsburg, on the Dutch side of St Martin. Atmosphere is what you would expect from beach bar and port for cruise ships. Service and attitude of management that rely on tourists for income, unfortunately left a lot to be desired. Our party of 10 was served one at a time (I am not exaggerating) for almost two hours, when the last one received their order. Cuisine was average, beach comfort food, but definitely not worth the wait. We thought about leaving several times, but were “reassured” it was being cooked. Manager blamed it all on the waitress. She took no responsibility...

So painfully slow! It took almost an hour and a half to get a pizza! SUX other tables who were seated after use got their food, ate and left before we even got our order. (No, it wasn't crowded. We were there at 1:50) The waitress was uncaring, indifferent and rude. When it finally came, it wasn't even that good, definitely not worth the wait.
