We made reservations for King's Day evening. While most people in the train go home, we go to restaurant Rotonde.
Not knowing what to expect I open the door. The place is more than half full and we can pick a spot. Next thing we hear is that all the normal staff got a day off and that they are running the service with 3 people tonight... okay?!
Once seated, we get the menu very quickly and I ask for a 5 coarse diner and wine to go with that. And yes, of course we'll share food. This way we get to taste 10 different dishes and we discuss which we like most.
I really like the idea of using local food, because these ingredients didn't fly half the planet to make it to our plates.
All dishes we eat are well prepared, extremely tasteful (I fully disagree with reviews stating otherwise) and nicely presented. It's great fun to see the staffs knowledge on what they serve and the enthusiasm they serve it with.
Having a great evening comes from small details like wonderful company, excellent food or staff that even though it's busy, plays the music from lp.
Yes, we will definitely come again. Thanks for a delightful evening and...
Read moreA very cosy restaurant that feels intimate, a great care for service, and good food. Overall we had a nice experience.
Regarding the food, the vegetables are prepared creatively, nice combinations and marriages between the flavors which were well-balanced. Proper handling of French techniques. Great wine menu. As a person who’s not very fond of veggies, they surprised me and made me appreciate every single vegetable I was served.

The flavors were often flat and it didn’t feel enough adventurous. I was waiting to reach the peak and it came at the last course, maybe a bit late. We thought that in order to really stand out in the new hype market of sustainable restaurants, you need to take more risks than that.
To conclude it was a very nice restaurant, they surely know what they are doing, but there is still room for improvement — and they are on their...
Read moreRotonde is a culinary and vegetarian gem you can't afford to miss in Rotterdam. But make sure that you make a reservation!
What sets Rotonde apart is their ingenious use of local ingredients, expertly woven into their dishes. It truly embodies the future of cuisine, where flavor and sustainability intertwine seamlessly.
The laid-back atmosphere at Rotonde is perfect for a dinner, with a group or a date. And the food is great! Each bite is a revelation, with flavors that are both pure and unexpectedly delightful.
Just a heads up: if you opt to sit at the bar, be prepared for a bit of warmth. They cook over an open fire, adding to the charm of the experience, but it can get a tad toasty.
All in all, I can't recommend Rotonde highly enough. If you're seeking a culinary vegetarian journey that embraces local flavors and offers a glimpse into the future of cuisine, this is the...
