Let’s start with the good part: the food is excellent, still is after a couple of years and much better than the sister restaurant Putaine the cocktails - made by a very nice attentive young staffer were also of excellent quality

The less positive aspects that actually spoil the whole thing : arrogance. The last time I went to Heroine was a year ago, for lunch and I was greeted with a “Yes?” to which I replied “Welcome to you too, I have a reservation”. Did not get better from there but a friend of mine wanted to go again so I decided to give it another chance - and as mentioned food is exceptional.

This time the sommelier completely snubbed us, barely mentioned what was on offer (we review wines and restaurants all over the place so yes we like to know what the pairing looks like), the amuses were all served and we still did not have drinks. Finally we went for cocktails at the start, because we could avoid the sommelier. Later we went for the wine pairings which were not great and then absolutely disastrous with the cheese plate and the desert - wines in themselves excellent but way too light and became acidic with the last blue cheese and the amazing fresh and light desert. For paying we asked to split the bill and the waiter muttered with a smirk “we don’t usually do that”, proceeding to do it (its a machine… please) which had the immediate effect of cutting the tip in half. Was a relieve to have the two younger staff which were nice attentive and welcoming serving us for most of the meal - the rest just looked toxic. Like those high end clothe shops where people make you feel unwelcome even if you are going to spend a fortune there. That’s so… 90s… And, as well known, space needs some noise reduction tricks and it’s loud and hard to have a conversation.

Conclusion: For excellent food there are equally good places in town - so that was the last time. Hospitality is not about ego is...

Half flesje?? Of heel??

Jammer. Kritisch zijn mag, zeker in dit...

Designwise the place is great. The concept is very interesting too. You ask for a number of meals between 4 and 7,and they do the rest. Just tell them what you don't like in advance and they'll surprise you. About the quality of the food? I got very interesting plates but some of them are too complex in terms of flavours thst it becomes not that enjoyable. They want to make it very complicated and it is nice to try things, but sometimes when it is more simple, it is tastier. I would usually say that they should not have more than 3 different of products mixed together. Here you have sometimes 6 or 7 things and it is hard to get what you're actually eating.

But yeah, if you are in Rotterdam, definitely try it! It was super interesting overall and you will definitely enjoy a lot some of their plates. Plus, they change the...

From the entrance to the desert a wonderful journey with wines and food. Employees needed some time to get to know the visitors, but once we started they were relaxed. Complimenting wines with the 5 courses were better than expected. With wines from France until India you are taking some chances. The sommelier likes more fresh wines where I personally go for darker wines, I had to admit his choices were perfect. The food was a culinair journey, small portions with well prepared aroma's. I can't agree with the review below with regard to the acoustics, maybe it was us talking louder than the rest. One point of improvement, SLOW down the speed of the courses. I thought a 4 star was to low and 4.5 not possible. Truly a must have been place, nice people in a hidden upcoming area of Rotterdam. Hope to see you again soon!

We had an amazing experience the cocktails where amazing and the wine selection is excellent with really reasonable prices. The 7th course Menu was absolutely amazing and also reasonably priced. The staff was very attentive. After the dinner we felt full but not stuffed. However if you opt for the vegetarian option the servings seemed a bit like an afterthought with a lot of goat cheese and no “real” designated vegetarian dish except main. We also thought that the Deserts were nicely presented but a bit weak in taste/complexity. The bread was really tasteful although the dip could be improved. Also be prepared for a 2,5-3,5h experience which is ok but we were only expecting 1-2 h. I hope this review was helpful and please take it as a constructive critic.

Héroine in Rotterdam absolutely blew me away. Tucked inside Het Industriegebouw, the space itself is stunning — high ceilings, exposed materials, and that perfect balance of industrial and cozy. It feels a bit like you’ve discovered a hidden spot in a warehouse, but with all the warmth and atmosphere you’d hope for on a great night out. We went for the 5-course tasting menu, and honestly, it was flawless from start to finish. Every dish felt thoughtful and surprising, but the oysters really stole the show. Perfectly fresh, beautifully prepared — they were easily the highlight of the evening. If you’re looking for somewhere in Rotterdam that delivers on both food and ambiance, Héroine is it. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
