As I step into the bustling Markthal in Rotterdam, the smell of exotic spices and freshly baked bread wafts over me like a warm embrace. But today, I'm on a mission. I've heard rumors of a burger joint tucked away in a corner of this foodie paradise, serving up a duck burger that is not to be missed.
The joint, simply named "Burger," is unassuming, with a minimalist menu that belies the complexity of the flavors they're dishing out. I order the duck burger, and watch as the chef expertly grills a thick, juicy patty of ground duck, perfectly seared and crispy on the outside while still pink and tender within.
The burger comes on a fluffy brioche bun, and is topped something green? One bite, and I'm transported to a culinary nirvana. The rich, gamy flavor of the duck is perfectly complemented by the sweet-tart sauce, while the tangy cheese adds a creamy depth that ties it all together.
As I savor each bite, I can't help but think that this is the kind of burger that could change the game. It's a bold departure from the usual beef burgers, but the flavors are so perfectly balanced that it's hard to imagine going back. Rotterdam, you've...
Read moreWe like the open kitchen where we can see how the burgers were prepared in front of you. The duck burger is so quite a strange idea that I would recommend diners to try at least once. We ordered a duck burger with kimchi. The meat was very lean as the fat had already been drained; however it was moist enough to taste. The minus point is the duck meat was precooked, packaged and frozen so the duck flavour and texture were not prominent. The addition of kimchi gave the dish a necessary tanginess and Asian flavour. However the pickle dripping made the buns quite soggy towards the end of the tasting. The price was slightly on the high side, a few euro less would make the place more attractive. The serving time will be slightly long but you get to see the cook assemble your burger so I think it’s worth it. I recommend dining in for the best experience and...
