LALA latin soul food Markthal Rotterdam — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Not exactly traditional Latin food — more of a mix between Spanish and Mexican — but still a really good spot!

We visited shortly after noon, and the place wasn’t crowded. There was plenty of space, so we could choose our table freely.

The atmosphere was great, with lively Latin music and a cozy, welcoming vibe inside.

We were served almost immediately by a friendly and attentive waitress. Despite a note about kitchen delays, we didn’t notice any real wait — the service was fast and smooth.

The food was delicious. The tacos were bursting with flavor — a real explosion of taste! We shared one portion between two people and instantly regretted not ordering one each.

The patatas bravas were also excellent, and the sangria was perfectly made.

The toilets were clean and located on the upper floor.

Lunch in the Markthal, we tried LALA Latin soul food on a Friday afternoon around 1300hrs.

It was not super busy so we easily got a table with 3 seats. Nice Ambiente and atmosphere for a restaurant in Rotterdam. In total there were 3-4 people working. Service was friendly and brought directly the food and drink menue.

After ordering food and drinks together it took around 10 mins for the bottled drinks and around 10 additional for the food.

The baguette is not selfmade and one of these oven baguettes that you can also do at home. Besides that it was still tasty and good. According to my colleague the chicken was great, but the bravas (potatoe cubes) were not so crispy cause of the liquid from the salad/chicken.

I have seen this restaurant at Markthal a few times and it looks like it has a great vibe, so we wanted to try it. Today we did. What a disappointment!!! 😞 Ordered the loaded fries, which were basically dry fries in a bowl with no sauce whatsoever. Some onions, peppers and salantro on top. But the biggest surprise was the chicken on top. There were 60 grams of chicken in my bowl, like 10 tiny sliced pieces. What a rip off. I love loaded fries and have had them at many restaurants, but these were bad. These weren't loaded fries. These were just bland fries with no sauce and some colorful onions and greens.
