Bar 19 — Restaurant in The Hague

The food was absolutely amazing. But the service… terrible. From start to finish. The guy who took our order was extremely arrogant, and he ruined our order, although we were very clear about it. Their menu said they had a seafood platter for 2 people for 19,5 euros per person. We were a party of 8, 2 of us had different things off the menu and the rest of 6 wanted 3 platters. Pretty easy, right? He brought a platter for 3 people (which by the way our friends who have been there before many times told us it was a platter for 2 people). We tried to explain again what we want - 3 platters. But they brought another platter which they said is for 3 people. Okay. When we asked for the bill they charged us for 19,5 euros for 6 people altough at the entrance of the restaurant they had an offer of 17,5 euros per person - we already paid the bill and left a tip so we wanted to speak to a manager, but the girl who was now serving us just brought 12 euros back who she literally threw on our table, altough all our complaints were made in a very nice way. Living for 20 years in the NL and yet to experience the worst customer experience ever! 17:00 on a Saturday. You go out for a nice drink with your friends and all expect is to have a relaxed fun time. Instead, you are serviced by a bitter waitress who cannot even bother to answer what the dish of the day without showing some clear impatience. So you place your order, but your friend who has a bit of accent and asks again for the information and is told that "they can't understand her English and they will come back just walk away. Eventually, They get your orders placed and are delivered at your table with so little regard that it spills everywhere without an apology. You (over)pay saying " have a good day" to the waitress who has eye contact at you but dislike you and does not bother to answer. Welcome...

Great sea food and nice sunny location (in case it is sunny 😅). The food we ordered was really great and fresh. They seem to be creative with the dishes but not overly enthusiastic so just in the sweet spot. The staff was surprisingly friendly and quick in Dutch standards. Until the dessert was supposed to come which took forever. In the meantime the restaurant become busy but yeah… not our problem right? At least they apologized...
