De Haagsche Bier Kluis — Restaurant in The Hague

It was a disaster! We wanted to start our first evening on vacation with a nice meal. We were given a table and, despite the corona restrictions, four of us were allowed to sit at one table. We ordered our drinks and got them shortly afterwards. Now it was time to choose our food, a really great and helpful waitress took our order but afterwards it was really anything but a nice visit. I ordered a salad as a main course, but it came with our starter, I could still accept that, so we waited for the rest we had ordered. When after a while there was still nothing, we asked a waitress when the food was coming, and I pointed out that something was missing on my food, but she just ignored it. When the food finally came, the next disappointment came, everything was really cold except for the fries. After the meal we wanted the bill, because we wanted to pay separately, the waitress told us that she was going to print one. This took some time and we got a bill with a number of drinks and dishes in addition to ours that we had not ordered. We informed the waitress and it took some time before a new bill came in, which the waitress had, because of her full hands, in her mouth !!! transported and that during Corona time. The bill was wrong again and we told her what we had. We paid, were still hungry and really very disappointed with our visit. While waiting for the food and the bill we saw, that the waitresses almost never knew where drinks or food belonged to and always walked around confused. I would definitely not recommend...

Vandaag sinds lang maar weer eens buitenshuis geluncht. Was toevallig in ons "fraaie" The Hague. Had een beetje trek en liep voetje voor voetje over het Plein grenzend aan het Binnenhof. Ben toevallig herstellende van achillespees ruptuur, mooie term voor scheur. Eindelijk weer een beetje fatsoenlijk lopen en mooi excuus om mijzelf weer eens te trakteren. Daarom maar binnengevallen bij de Haagse Kluis. Trouwens verkeerde naam. Voelt AB SO LUUT niet als opgesloten aan. Ik stond buiten de menu kaart te bekijken toen een klein opdondertje, buitengewoon vriendelijk vroeg of ze mij kon helpen. Nodigde mij daarna ook uit om binnen of buiten te eten met de vermelding dat het binnen lekker warm was en buiten nog goed te doen op overdekt terras met deken. Voor binnen gekozen. Al vroeg geleerd, dat daar waar mensen zitten het meestal wel goed is. Nou,.... ook nu weer zeker waar. Nauwelijks tot geen volk bij de aaneengesloten rij restaurants. Eenmaal binnen gekozen voor een 12 uurtje. Was er rond 13:00 uur maar kon desgewenst ook gewoon diner bestellen, had ze in alle gauwigheid overlegt met de kok. 👍. Maar ging zoals gezegd dan toch voor 12 uurtje, roerei, super pompoensoep, smaakvol, goed warm....zoals ik het graag heb en leuk opgemaakt, had de hele pan wel gelust. Ook een lekkere kroket, mooi krokant, goed op kleur, lekkere romige vulling met huisgemaakte mosterd. Kleine garnering en oude kaas. Al met al erg lekker. Ik moet natuurlijk wat te mekkeren hebben, daarom zal ik maar zeggen dat ik de boter miste. 😇 Klein beetje roomboter was niet verkeerd geweest, mekker de mekker de mekker.... Zoals te doen gebruikelijk ga ik hier terugkomen,..... alhoewel..ik ben net 8 kilo kwijt...word moeilijk om het er dan af te houden. Aankleding en entree ook leuk om te zien....en voor juffrouw quickzilver een dikke 10 voor...

Food was tasteless, no effort put in the flavors. The same applies for the service which was rude with no table cleanup and zero flexibility in answering our questions regarding better service (all answers were a direct no, despite the place being empty). Servers were glaring, not a single smile. The music could have been better if they would have read the room and customers. Nice ambiance but ruined by poor service from untrained staff who clearly do not care or know anything about customer service even though we ordered a lot, contributing to their income in an otherwise...
