tl;dr: Don't come here to eat, come here to have drinks.

Long version: we were 6 people and almost everyone got something worth telling:

One of us is muslim and he ordered a hamburger without bacon. He got it with bacon and when he complained they took it away and brought it a couple of minutes after that (probably the same hamburger). That wasn't that bad because when they brought it back they let it fall to the ground just in front of the table. The next one took a little bit of more time so probably was a new one.

Another one was pregnant and she ordered the cooked salmon with vegetables have something cooked (because pregnant ladies should not eat uncooked meat). They brought a piece of salmon which was not that much done so she also had to wait a little bit more for her food. About the vegetableS... there were 2 pieces of cabbage and that's all. It was a good piece of salmon, but maybe 19.50€ was way too expensive.

Another one ordered a Caesar salad which costed 9.5€ and was basically big lettuce and tomato pieces with A LOT of chicken and bacon. Caesar dressing? Not there. Any kind of dressing? Also not there. Way top much money for a bowl of huge pieces. She was hungry after that.

The beer was great. They have a lot of different ones from the Netherlands and Belgium. The beer menu is huge (200-300 beers) and they have around 10 beers from tap. They also have a cider menu with around...

I thought I had already written a review on this place but it appears I have not. At this very moment I am sitting here feeling rather disappointed for they have changed the menu since I last visited (during summer). Although I was still able to order the same dish (surf and turf), they have taken 'raspatat' off the menu, which I think is an absolute shame. This place is great in summer. So far, they have always served me a decent lunch. It is less packed than the places right around the corner. Staff are friendly and you can enjoy the cyclists and pedestrians fighting over who has the right of way and where the bld* ** does the cycle lane start anyway? Back to the food. The taste of the beef has improved. It had a nice flame-grilled touch to it. If I am not mistaken, last time I ordered this, it came with one more shrimp, some sauce and a side salad. I almost fear this small downgrade is a result of difficult times. The Belgian fries were definitely not as good as the 'raspatat'. I would love to see that back on the menu. Normally, a dish like this in this place would have satisfied me. Now, I feel I have a half-empty stomach. I am about to order desert and hope that does not disappoint. Will come back here, because I still like it and hope things will get...

Zero hospitality skills. My friend asked the waitress a question concerning the salmon caviar and the waitress replied "I don't know". My friend had to insist, and finally request the waitress to ask a coworker in order to have an answer to her question. Same thing happened for the kaasfoundue. The menu indicates that the dish comes with wine or beer. Accordingly, we asked what it means: is it that inside the cheese fondue we can choose either wine or beer? Or perhaps it includes a glass of beer or wine on the side? And she said the menu was wrong, it does not come with either of the two… (wait, what??!!) Despite her wacky answer, we ordered 1 kaasfoundue (and other food). At the end, while paying the bill, we realized that we were charged 2 x kaasfoundue instead of 1 like we ordered. The waitress explained to us that they had put double cheese in the pan because we were more than 1 to eat it. She was insisting that because we ate it, we had to pay for it. We had to explain/argue the situation to the manager - that we were not informed that we had a double amount of cheese + that we would not pay for something we did not order. Finally, do not order the Breekbrood: you are going to have 2...

Located opposite El Mamma restaurant, on Grote marktstraat, Café-Restaurant Rootz in the Hague, is where tradition meets creativity, and nowhere is that more evident than in their standout cocktail, the “Dutch Mule.” During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying their signature cocktail, the Dutch Mule. Tried for the first time with a friend, this jenever-based twist on the classic Moscow Mule instantly won us over. Crisp, zesty, and served in a copper mug, it’s the perfect blend of Dutch heritage and modern flair. There is a lot of choices, however, I highly recommend the Dutch Mule for anyone curious to sip something uniquely local.

We went to have dinner with kids. The service was good although they took too long. The cheese fondue was not great. The vegetables and bread were also not special at all. The pork was okish. The portions are small, and we were told from the beginning. The sweet potato was very good. I loved it. I this is a place to enjoy beers with some friends, but not a place for having dinner with kids.

Nice cafe with an outdoor seating area that offers nice views for people watching. The food ranged from excellent to below standards. For example, the grilled shrimps were mouthful and juicy while the Bali chicken tasted terrible and dry. The berry mojito was excellent. The staff are super friendly! However, the service can be slow. The greens salad was delicious!
