Ever since moving 2 years ago, it has been my go to PLACE. Initially, simply because the owner is fantastic.. she connected with us as people and told us the backstory of her starting this cafe. Her charisma and enthusiasm made this a lovely place for us newly moved internationals, which was hard to find elsewhere in this very fast paced city. I started bringing friends and family, which all say they love this place, the food, ambience, music, decor, etc.
We took notice of and love that the owner is so hands on and involved in her work, although running this kind of business can be extremely stressful (as it is literally packed during jazz nights) she has managed to create a good environment for everyone in the cafe, while seemingly enjoying herself every time. We applaud her for not only creating this kind of space for internationals, locals, elders, musicians, tourists to come together as humans, while making it unlike any other. It's an experience you cannot miss in The Hague.
Their food is REALLY good, more than what you expect from any cafe. They are flexible with the menu and tend to invent unique delicious (sometimes even fusion) dishes, unlike anywhere else. Last night we ordered mediterranean dishes which tasted so authentic! It's perfect to share, but you can also ask for modifications in which they are happy to accommodate you. I really recommend their Jamon Serrano flatbread! My all time favorite. Worth going simply for the food.
Their jazz live music nights are wonderful. It is rather intimate as opposed to performative which makes it a way more meaningful experience.. as I said, you make unexpected connections and have special moments with all kinds of people in here! The artists have been amazing every. single. time. It's the place to be for AMAZING live jazz music in itself
While jazz nights are FREE, the ones that you do buy tickets for are always worth it and surpasses everything you expect.. it already does!

Read moreMy friend and I were there on a Sunday afternoon. The musicians were great! The place was nice too.
Although we really enjoyed the music, there were a few things we didn't like:
We felt very pressured by the wait staff - I can appreciate attentive service, but every time they came to 'check on us', it felt more like "are you going to order more?" It was making us feel guilty for even being there and taking up a table.
When it came time for the bill, the waitress read out the items, as well as the cost for the 'music'. I wasn't sure what I had heard and asked her to clarify - her reply was very defensive, "it's on the website".
Now, I have absolutely no problem paying for the music and musicians (this is why we came here in the first place, and the only reason we may be back), but nowhere on the website (as of today's date anyway), is the cost for music listed! I have looked at every nook and cranny on the website and did not find a mention of it - and frankly, if it's that difficult to see on the site, that's just sneaky and deceiving.
The concept of the place is good and the musicians are what make the whole experience, but please just be...
Read moreMy partner and I enjoyed a delightful dinner of a mezze platter with fresh flatbreads and pinchos with delicious Serrano ham, grilled vegetables, and spicy shrimp. The grilled pears with goat cheese was another flavorful dish. The Rioja, both the white and the red, were fine complements to the food. The owner herself helped us pick out dishes that worked well together. The servers were friendly and kind adding to the wonderful atmosphere in this sweet restaurant where one feels welcomed and relaxed. We've eaten at many restaurants across the Netherlands and this is a true gem. The terrific and talented chef and the owner committed to excellence ensure a pleasurable time. We can't...
