Krishna Vilas Den Haag — Restaurant in The Hague

I went there 3 or 4 times because it is very cheap. The onion thosai are good but the chutneys are too watery on your banana leaf even if not bad taste. The sweet lassi is very good there and I think the milo ice is excellent. The buttermilk is ok. The poori had no swollen presentation but ok taste. The vadai are ok, very cheap but not my taste

The place has basic Indian Tamil decoration and environment, plastic chairs and tables. Local and tourist customers. It is oki but it can be very very busy.The ground was dirty when I went there the first time but I was not sick with the food, the next time it was clean

There are some dishes mentioned in the menu that they sometimes don’t have at least like the badam halwa You are very full for the price you pay.

The waiters seem to be from India with their manners and not from Malaysia. Bit staring at you but they speak very good English and are helpful and friendly. You eat on bamboo or banana leaves. The third time I went they were very friendly and careful, the last time they didn’t care giving me small plate for the too watery chutneys and it made my clothes dirty and they didn’t care

It is very cheap, the food is just ok and you are full. Will I go back? In case of, there are other places I prefere for the food taste. Upon my visit, I felt my experience with the food is okay. I didnot feel so authentic while tasting all dishes. I can recommend it once. Both CASH and CARD are accepted. I have ordered chilly paneer ( tasted good, but I found Gobi and paneer equally in the dish, it would have served purpose more when paneer is more with the dish), chilly bajji ( I donot recommend this as I didnot feel authentic chilly bajji: also everyone cannot accept this completely as Indian cities have different way of preparing this, I am from AP in India so I donot feel this - I felt the taste of Tamilnadu’s style maybe), mini tiffin combo ( the dish is okay as the idly is very cool and watery, vada is good, Masala dosa is okay, upma is good and kesari is excellent. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday, understandably for their good food. I started out with a plate of idli vada, which was mediocre as it was barely lukewarm and the idli was not soft as I wanted it. Following that, we opted to indulge in some Indo-Chinese with gobi (cauliflower) manchurian and baby corn chilli. Both were quite tasty (satisfied my craving for Indo-Chinese) with the baby corn chilli being the best dish of the night. With starters done, we went for the next obvious choice at a South Indian restaurant, dosas. I had the onion rava dosa while a few others had ghee masala dosa and plain dosa. All the dosas were crispy and wonderful with the sambhar and chutneys. Even though we had our fill, we ended our meal with some gulab jamun, filter coffee and masala chai. The chai and the coffee were lovely except for the gulab jamun which was average. Overall, we spent around 20 euros each which is steep for a student but the quantity and quality are definitely worth the price.
