DON'T GO TO this Simonis if you don't want to be treated rude. It was my last meal before I left Netherlands and all the nice impressions I got from dutches were ruined because of a impolite woman working there. She is white, blonde and when I called her to make a order, she just glanced at me then looked away without saying anything. I started to feel that maybe this is somekind of racist act or she is just busy with other customers. So I waited then called the other server ( a greek man) and then asked if he speaks english since every server and customer there was using dutch. He said he only speaks english little but the other server, the woman I mentioned above, can speak english and she will serve me. However, she denied on speaking english and it was obvious that she can. The male server was flustered for a second then he told me he will just serve. I can see him trying to be nice to me, maybe to make up for rude behavior of his coworker. However, I was still embrassed and angry with the woman's action and I can't believe there is someone like her with such a atitude when she is working in a service industry.
If you have read this review, I recommend you to go to the other simonis instead of this simonis. I know that some people won't care if they are white and if they have never experienced racism or rudeness. However, if you are educated and someone with atitude, I'm sure you will understand me.
Plus, if anyone from simonis in de stad sees this comments, would you please tell your colleague that I feel really sorry for her losing her english ability that day? Like something got into her brain? Be...

Also, the first time I ordered oysters for a take out it was lovely. Beautifully opened, with a slice of lemon.
The second time I ordered the lady was insisting they never open oysters for a take out, when I kindly asked to still open them she went to her colleague and was gossiping with her while pointing her head at me.
In the end oysters were full of shell crumbs.
I love the location and mostly I like the food. Happy, respectful faces would be a great addition. I really hope you can work on it since half of your customers...
Read moreFor years and years this was a traditional The Hague fishmonger for a delicious meal. Friendly staff, tasty food, great portions and transparent pricing. In the summer 2022, you could still get a lekkerbek or a small portion of kibbeling for less than 3 euro.
However, and even if inflation goes around 15-20%, they've raised their prices by 200% from night to day, you can only order full portions, you always have to ask the prices to the now young and not so friendly staff.
Funny from the comments here and quite shocking that apparently no one noticed that. Probably the place only takes tourists now, because all the locals (like me) don't bother complaining and simply go get their fish...
