MADO — Restaurant in Utrecht

I recently had the misfortune of dining at Mado, and I must say it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. I would strongly advise anyone considering this place to turn around and run as fast as possible. The service was a train wreck, the orders were completely messed up, and to top it off, the food was an absolute abomination.

Let's start with the service, or should I say lack thereof. It was clear from the moment we stepped in that the staff couldn't care less about their customers. No warm welcome, no smiles - just indifference. We placed our orders, and that's when the real nightmare began.

To say our orders were wrong would be a gross understatement. One drink was completely missing, and the worst part was that an entire food order, the mixed grill, was nowhere to be found. It's as if the kitchen staff decided to play a cruel prank on us, except there was nothing funny about it.

When we tried to address the issue with the server, they seemed annoyed and barely acknowledged our concerns. Instead of offering a sincere apology or attempting to rectify the situation, they shrugged it off as if it were our fault. I've never felt more disrespected as a customer.

But the horrors didn't end there. The food that did make it to our table was an absolute disaster. The mixed grill, which we had eagerly anticipated, was nothing more than a sad, overcooked, and under-seasoned mess. It was a crime against taste buds everywhere and will haunt my culinary memories for eternity.

What adds insult to injury is that the management did nothing to compensate us for this horrendous experience. No discount, no apology, nothing. It's as if they couldn't care less about the reputation of their restaurant or the satisfaction of their customers.

In conclusion, I cannot stress enough how much I regret choosing to dine atMado. The service was bad, the orders were wrong, and the food was a disgrace. Save yourself the time, money, and disappointment and steer clear of this place. There are plenty of other restaurants that actually value their customers and serve edible food. Avoid mado...

Today, my friend and I decided to visit Mado for some desserts and coffee, but unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant.

At first, we ordered coffee and some desserts. When the waiter brought our coffee, I asked him for two glasses of water. Instead, he brought us two opened bottles of mineral water. We told him that we hadn’t ordered bottled water, just regular glasses of water. However, he refused to acknowledge the mistake and also said he couldn't take the bottles back because they were already opened.

To avoid any issues, I told him we would take only one bottle so he wouldn't get into trouble with his manager. He then took the second bottle and gave it to another customer.

After that, we waited for over 30 minutes for our dessert, even though we had already finished our coffee and were about to leave. I asked another waiter why our order was delayed, and he immediately went to bring it. I have no idea why it took so long, especially since the restaurant wasn’t busy at all.

We finally had our dessert—but without coffee, unfortunately. The taste was below average and definitely not worth the price. Still, we finished it out of respect for the food and went to pay the bill.

To my surprise, they charged us for two bottles of water, totaling €7. I informed the cashier that we only took one bottle, and she was understanding enough to correct the bill.

Overall, while the location is nice, the service was unprofessional, the staff were uncooperative, and the whole experience felt disorganized. Would I recommend this place? Definitely not. And I don’t think I’ll be...

It was a waste of my money and time to eat here. So far we have been going to this restaurant in different countries and were quite satisfied with the food quality and service. We unexpectedly encountered this restaurant and were immediately convinced to have our dinner here (based on our previous good experiences).

We ordered iskender, pide and something to drink. The meat wasnt cooked well and was too salty. I didnt like the flavor as well, they used the wrong spices for this dish. The pide had almost no taste.

The staff isnt friendly. They dont speak Dutch and ignore you. I noticed that the people sitting next to us called the staff many times to order and eventually they stood up and walked to the staff member by themselves.

We paid €80 and it defintely wasnt worth it. For this price I could’ve eaten a full course menu and at least have some friendly & nice approach of staff
