Epsom Fresh Fish and Chips may have mastered the art of the perfect chip. Slightly crisp, neither overcooked nor prone to going limp by the time you get home. Perhaps it's because they serve up in boxes rather than the newsprint wrap arrangement we are more familiar with. Whatever the trick, they should keep it up.

They may over-estimate their wait times, which is not always the worst thing in the world and better than the chronically optimistic alternative. We phoned ahead to place our order around the busier part of a Sunday evening and were told to anticipate a 30 minute wait. On arrival perhaps 15 minutes later, I paid and only had a couple of minutes wait before my order was being called.

Appeared to have excellent hygiene and COVID-safe protocols and physical setup well managed... including the smart move of having an intercom-like speaker setup so that the perspex screens don't prevent you from being able to hear the staff...

A small take-out shop. I love that they make everything fresh when you order so your order is hot and crisp, not just something that's been sitting under the heater for hours.

I got the simple hoki and the kumara chips; the fish turned out bigger than I expected and the kumara went pretty well with the fish. For those of us who don't know what kumara is, it's like the local sweet potato. Both fish and the kumara chips were crispy and really tasty.

Great fish (Snapper) and chips. A bit of a wait sometimes when they are quiet, but the wait is worth it. Returned here for fish and chips for lunch. Excellent fish and chips. Fresh snapper, crispy batter, crispy chips with a nice mash texture on the inside.
