Mud Pie Deli — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

Ruh roh. This place was rough. Decour was cute if very exposed, weren't any cozy nooks to snuggle into, when arrived we had to figure out the lay of the land ourselves (its order at the counter but we weren't told that when seated, and when we did get the food it was a massive flop. We ordered the waffles and the eggs rancheros, there was a singular, dense and burnt heart waffle that had been cut into four bits on a sad landscape of apple and manderin, and the eggs on the Ranchero dish were wet, oily, and covered in something like mayo. the chorizo was soggy and the jalapeños tasted like metal. We waited a long time because they prioritized the Uber eats orders over the people in the cafe. At least they apologized for the wait to everyone. Whoever is making the food needs to slow down and taste the dishes because...

I have enjoyed a catch-up with friends, as well as a coffee alone, on many occasions. The food has always been well-presented and the coffee delivered at just the right time. However, a recent lunchtime visit was spoiled by excessive noise from a large table. The adults and children seemed to think they were dining alone and one could hear their 'shouting' (hardly conversation) at the other end of the cafe. I found it hard to hear my friends and was surprised that no member of staff intervened in the above case; it was 'obvious rudeness'. It spoiled the experience of other customers, by the looks 'thrown' in the direction of these attention-seeking individuals...had it happened earlier i.e. before I had paid for my order, I would have...

This morning (18th Jan 2025), I paid about $9.50 for a mince a cheese pie at Mud Pie Deli and after I left, got onto my bus to work, I took it out to eat it and was horrified to see mould on the pastry of the pie after I bit into it. There’s spots of green all on the outside of the pie. That’s so unacceptable! The pie was a little pricey too, I was assuming it would be worth it as the name of the shop has pie in it you know? But unfortunately it wasn’t worth it. What a great start to my day :/
