Great food but a poor entrance to Tauranga Port. Waiting staff seem abundant however the service is very poor. This is our second visit here in 2 months and both times we found the staff to be inadequate. Arriving today at 12.30pm one would expect that the specials board would be ready to go. We questioned which specials to go by as the piece of paper clipped to the main menu differed from the specials board. We were told that they hadn't got to the specials board as yet and to go by the piece of paper. Having been a Maître d in the past I know that the specials board should be up to date prior to the restaurant opening. They confuse meals and run around table by table questioning if this is your meal. No one stops by to ask if everything is alright. Drinks ordered at the bar are placed down all over the bar and not in front of the person ordering, causing confusion and doubling up on drinks. The menu's are scruffy and not up to standard of such a lovely restaurant. Plates are left in front of you until we were almost ready to leave. For the amount of waiting staff, the service should be spot on. I feel this is not a classy place to dine which is a shame as it would be the first port of call for tourists when the cruise ships come in. Cut down on your staff and train...
Read moreSad to see how the only truly beautiful location for a restaurant in Tauranga can be absolutely ruined by customer service and rules. If you are not a restaurant for public, then don’t advertise it like this. Price of a restaurant, delicious food, but not clean, you need to serve yourself and take the dishes after yourself. You came to celebrate birthday? Too bad, eat food, but no champagne as it’s a club, not a restaurant. Pay $100 annually for a family to be able to buy alcohol.
We were told we are not allowed to buy any drinks as a non-member and following that our experience was fairly hostile. We felt unwelcome and almost like they had done us a favor to allow us to step foot into the building.
Not kid friendly, no toys, not polite staff 🥲 Sorry for the bad review, for the last several years I try to bring family and friends here, but always too hard. Sad it can’t be a normal restaurant with a club facility.
Hope you can make it better for all New Zealanders and especially tourists, who won’t be club members for sure. Im not usually one to rant but this deserved it.

Been going here for 3 yrs, not a member so was always happy to pay the 'non-member' price as we liked the setting, the food etc.
All of a sudden we were told we are not allowed to buy any drinks as a non-member and following that our experience was fairly hostile. We felt unwelcome and almost like they had done us a favor to allow us to step foot into the building.
The food on this occasion was below average, burgers were burnt, tasted like nothing and were horribly dry.
On top of all of that, we were welcomed to the venue with one staff member smoking at the entrance way, inviting my children to taste 2nd hand smoke where we couldn't avoid it.
Would not recommend anymore as this left a very sour taste in my mouth...
