Read moreTold the staff I had a large motorhome they insisted they had spots that could take large motor homes. No. They really need to know what they can and cannot fit. A 12 m motor home in a 6 m spot with no turning available to even try to get into. also it was a mud pit they wanted way way too much for that couldnt take the vehicle and if I had tried I would have smashed into trees other vehicles and buildings due to the tightness also I would have been knee deep in mud. BS. Thanks for your reply Marty basically reinforces my experience...you have larger sights that are suitable for larger vehicles until it rains....what if I had parked there and it rained.. something you have no control over...I would have been stuck in mud. Hardly suitable. The person I spoke with assured me my vehicle would fit in the muddy site (number 11 or 12) both far too small and one of them was occupied which she knew nothing about. It so happened that I walked over the other grass sites you mention that apparently only work if the sun is shining they also were not very flat meaning a larger vehicle would be parked on a slope and if it rained apparently in the mud. Again you should be aware of what works and what you have a less than ideal situation and as you point out I did not stay there...I couldn't because it rained there before I arrived which in your own words made the sites unusable and the only sites available that the staff assured me I would fit were muddy holes that were not large enough. $48 per night for a mud hole I thought was a bit much. The rest of the park was nicely kept with nice drive ways and concrete pads suitable for campers up to about 8 meters only any larger would struggle and certainly 12mt would not fit in the space I...
Read moreWe came from the North Island and this was our first time visiting the South Island or New Zealand for that matter. Originally, we planned to head to Nelson, but due to the terrible floods and having young kids, someone suggested we check out Hanmer Springs instead. We were lucky enough to find a last-minute cabin at the TOP 10 Holiday Park in Hanmer Springs.
We arrived late after a massive day â four hours on the ferry and another four to five hours driving. We were absolutely wrecked. But from the moment we arrived, the staff were amazing â genuinely kind and welcoming.
The next day, we visited the hot springs, which were awesome. We booked a private hot tub at teh Top 10 for the following night but unfortunately misjudged our timing and didnât get back until after reception had closed (7pm). Weâd already paid, but we just assumed it was our fault and weâd missed out.
To our surprise, the staff went above and beyond â they brought the key, towels, and even drinks directly to our cabin. They didnât have to do that, but they did, and it meant so much.
Honestly, highly recommend this place. The people are fantastic, the area is beautiful, and everything is within walking distance â pubs, restaurants, cafes, even forest walks right behind you. Couldnât fault it. Will...
