Had lunch at Fire and ice on a Saturday. It was slightly busy. I still got a seat, though. Staff were professional and polite. Ordered the giant beef burger (Not Giant) size was average. Burger was enjoyable, burger had strong pickle and cheese flavor. Would like it if the burger had more sauces, mayo, or chutney. Would also suggest adding a pattie and egg to bulk it up for the burger to stack up to its name. Partner got the open steak sandwich, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Sampling a piece of steak, it was tender moist and succulent. Would probably get this next time. Some cool things to mention: Outdoor kids playground Outdoor covered eating area Dog friendly Daily food specials Drink specials Wheel chair access 5min parking zone Fire and Ice is a nice place to enjoy meals with friends. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone stopping in to the Hamner area.

Love this place! Became our regular while staying in hanmer. Food is good and the girl that served us during these couple of days was super bubbly (brunette with checkered vans). Rump steak, salmon and venison dishes are 10/10. Pasta is also pretty good value for money. Fiancè went for breakfast while I was sleeping and loved it. ($10 bacon, eggs and toast). Good variety within the dinner menu. Only given 4 stars as we visited for lunch- ordered burgers and coffee; my cappuccino was more like a flat white (a barista myself so I can spot the difference). My fiancè liked his burger but I think mine would've been better if the chicken was crumbed rather than battered & deep fryed. Just a suggestion for improvement. Meal checking could be a little more consistent. Other than this though; food was incredible and we throughly enjoyed our visits. Cheers guys 😊

Our goto place in Hanmer Springs. You can never go wrong here. The kids love it here as the have a great play area for them and they always make friends there. No back to the nitty gritty. The menu is extensive and there's something for everyone. The food is tasty and very generous is portion size. They have some great beers on tap and also a fairly large alcoholic menu including some great cocktails. My newest favourite is the "Grown Up Lemonade"😁. We've never left disappointed and our tummies was always full. Sadly our favourite dessert got removed from the menu, so no more "Trio of Mouse" for us after our food. The kids still enjoy their ice cream and chocolate sauce with out a doubt. They also have a breakfast for $9.99 which we still need to try out, but I do know that we will not be disappointed.

I really don't like to leave bad reviews but I really feel like I need to this time. We came here for lunch, I ordered a hot chocolate which was actually a luke-warm chocolate. The steak sandwich came out cold and we were waiting for the waiter to come over and ask us how the meals were and to order more drinks, however, no one ever came. I went up to order a piece of cake and was told they would bring it over to us, however, after 20 minutes and no cake, I went up again and the waiter said he forgot (no apology). I then paid the bill and asked for an itemised receipt. Aftering checking the receipt I realised we had been charged for an extra main we never ordered and a kids orange juice that was meant to come free with the kids meal. Again, no apology for the mistake and they reluctantly refunded the extra meal and drink. No one said bye to us or thanked us for dining there as we left. We were also nothing but polite to the staff. I understand they were short staffed due to covid but none of the above issues are due to being short staffed and it was not busy at all. It's just bad...

Worst meal we had in a 17 day holiday of the south island ! Let me elaborate, reviewed menu at door n decided to take a seat, ordered drinks when these came they told us it would be a 40 min wait for food as they were busy, if they had told us this at start we would have gone elsewhere but seeing as drinks were already at table decided to wait it out , we ordered rolled pork roast, beef burger and kids chiken n chips , after 40 min food turned up pork was a 3/10 at best , the burger that supposedly had all the trimmings ie bacon cheese etc was a bland meat patty and salad on a roll no bacon no cheese when we asked about the bacon it was bought out 5 min later on a plate with apolagies , the kids meal was the best n id give it 8/10 . Lady on the table next to us also ordered a burger , the chicken burger topped with brie cheese etc and this arrived much like mine a bun with lettuce tomato n some crumbed chicken no cheese she also asked about the and they bought it out. We paid the bill $112 and told them it was the worst and left ...

We were enticed to stop here for lunch by the playground, but regretted it after. Sadly, the food was hit and miss. The lamb salad tasted bad with a horrible combination of mushrooms and over seasoned lamb. The child's beef burger had oversalted and overseasoned beef pattie that seemed to be one of those frozen patties that have too much soy or breadcrumb or something... did not taste like beef in any case. Fish and chips were fine. Pasta carbonara was delicious, albeit a bit too rich and fatty. What really annoyed us was that we were sitting inside and the saff had a meeting by the register discussing dinner service, and kitchen staff walked out a few times and were laughing loudly and cracking jokes, so it all felt like we were interrupting a gathering. It just was not a nice atmosphere and felt unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch, based on our experience and the quality of the food. I did let the waiter know that the lamb salad tasted bad and I was not able to eat it, he said sorry, and...
