BEWARE!! NOT RECOMMENDED!!! The pie warmer does not have "Sanga's pies" displayed anywhere on it! like they said in one of their rude responses to a review. It doesn't have anything on the front, as to where our problems began.
The staff couldn't distinguish which pies were which in the warmer or understand when we asked "Are these the same 'Sanga's pies' from the famous Cromwell bakery named Sanga's" It is displayed on the outside of the building.
They responded with "no these are New Zealand pies". If you don't know, don't make something up, just get someone who does.
As a regular customer to Sanga's, I will be informing them of this, so their reputation is no longer dragged through the mud. Sanga's pies are the best in NZ! IMO.
As you can see by the amount of bad reviews this place has received & poor replies to many customers unfortunate experiences here... I wouldn't expect it to get any better.
The pie was average not like a fresh one from Sanga's. The sausage roll was horrible, burnt & overcooked... wish I checked the reviews 1st, as it seems to be very common here. My dog wouldn't eat it lol.
$20 for a pie & sausage roll, because they charged for 2 pies🤔
They're expecting us all as customers to do their job for them to sort out all their issues, as you'll see from the responses to any reviews with an issue. (Check lowest reviews).
If they really cared like they keep saying, they'd make sure you're satisfied with your purchase.
Let's see what they pick from this review to make up a childish...
Read moreWe walked in all excited the sanga pies from Cromwell at this location we asked the young girl .."are these pies sanga pies?", she looked confused and really struggled to understand the request. We asked again politely and her response was "no they aren't sanga pies they are NZ pies. ??? That wasn't the question! The lack of basic knowledge from customer service staff is really lacking in Lake Tekapo we have been to 3 locations and all the same, little or no knowledge of their products. Please take this feedback as an opportunity to upskill the staff on your products. I understand that English is the girls second language but she really struggled to answer properly, I didn't want to embarrass the young girl by asking someone else, so we left.
Thank you for acknowledging this feedback. I do hope the opportunity is taken to upskill staff in this area. For clarity, there were no signs on the pie warmer, which is why the question was asked. My concern is not about the food itself, but rather the fundamentals of customer service and product knowledge. I’ll leave this with Management to consider, as these reviews present an opportunity to improve standards in a location where New Zealand hospitality is expected to be...
Read moreA little gem in Tekapo! Honestly did not expect to find such great food here. We walked by earlier in the morning and saw a long queue in the cafe around 10am. Snapped a photo of the menu but decided against queueing.
We were looking for lunch places around 12.30 and The Greedy Cow came to mind. Thankfully, the queue was not long. There were no tables available when we entered but a short 5 min wait and we had seats.
The food is a fusion of Asian and western cuisines and that works very well. Each dish we ordered was presented beautifully.
The beef hotpot was amazing. Super tender beef chunks, cheese omelette was perfection, and trust me you want to use that bread to soak up all the gravy goodness.
Pork belly is a good choice for Asians missing a taste of home (read: rice). Omelette was super good - it has a good heft, very fluffy, comes with just enough sauce and prawns that were cooked just right.
Lots of vegetarian options available which we appreciated greatly for my aunt - she enjoyed her hello me toast. Also love the punny names. I didnt feel that the drinks were anything mind blowing. For the food I’d definitely make a visit again if I come back to...
